Hello my name is Chrissy. My husband & I recently purchased a Sony Viao computer in January 2003.

Both the monitor and CPU had Sony mail in rebates. We also purchased a HP home/office printer. HP also had a mail in rebate.

We mailed all three rebates in immediately, the same day, correctly filled out. We even attached every single UPC barcode item fro the box to a sheet of paper, stapled to the mail in rebate portion.

In about three weeks, we received our rebate from HP without any problems. Now, as for the two Sony rebates, there are all kinds of problems!

We keep getting these cards in the mail that state "The UPC barcode was not included with your rebate submission." Well, that is BULL!

I even saved the boxes that all of the prducts came in. I have all documentation, proof of purchase, hardware/software, and more, even down to the boxes! I have tried to call to contact someone.

However, all I get is a recording that I can not speak to! This recording only supplies limited information and nothing else! I have called other various Sony numbers only to be told that "they have no idea."

Well, go figure. I then proceeded to resubmit all of the information that the card(s) was asking for. I typed up a long letter listing every single number for both Sony products.

I included every number remaining on both boxes(which was not much because I already mailed in about five barcode looking items with the orginal rebate), as well as every number found on every sinlge booklet, software/hardware item, and all numbers from the proof of purchase.

I also purchased a three year warranty on my CPU from the store where I purchased the Sony Vaio computer. So, how can they still deny us our rebates?

We felt that Sony made good products, hence they are a major corporation. Now, it's sad to say, but I am totally disappointed with them because of all of the uneeded hassle over two simple rebates.

I will not purchase anymore of their products unless they follow thier rebate promotion offers. I feel that this is false advertisement on their behalf.

I just don't understand why Sony would do this to me and so many others. If anyone reads this and would like to contact me please do so.

I do apologize if this sounds so negative. However, I have been negatively treated as a consumer =(

Also, just yesterday, I went to a local "mailbox" store to send my personal letter again that I typed to sony with all of the numbers. This time, I wanted to send my documentation priority so that I could track it.

However, the girl at the desk told me that she could not send anything prority to a "P.O Box" address. She was so helpful. She even tried to look up a physical address with a street name for the Sony Rebate Dept.

She said there was nothing listed. She then told me that she could not process my request to send my package so that I could track it. She suggested that I use the local post office and try to track it with them.

To me, it seems like the Sony Rebate address is one big scam. You can't locate who or where you are actually sending your information.

Is there any way to locate a real person on the other end of the Sony Rebate line? Is there a real street address for this so called Sony Rebate Department?

If anyone knows, please inform me. I have tried all the numbers for Sony, but all I get is "I have no clue...I can't help you!" There must be someone out there that can help all of us Sony Rebate victims find justice.

Also, if you look under Sony/rebates online, you can read many complaints from others on this same problem!

Thank You,

Robert&christina

chrissy...if you call the number on the card you WILL get a live person eventually, i worked in the company and we have about 200 reps waiting for calls or answering calls for customers. it's a bit foolish to think we'd only have recorders to asses customer's issues... regarding the UPC barcode, there is ONLY ONE (1) UPC barcode on the box, how is it possible that you 'sent every single UPC barcode item fro the box to a sheet of paper'? i wonder if a UPC barcode was ever included. i do believe there is a description of the UPC barcode on the website http://www.rebateshq.com visit the site and contact the company again, be perseverant and you will get assistance madam. thats what sony pays all the customer service reps for. respectfully,
