I bought the same lamp two years ago. It arrived in good shape but quickly developed the same problem as what you describe. definitely not a testimony to the quality of Bell and Howell products! The lamp is "limp" and droops so far that it is in danger of toppling. In retrospect this suggests that the threading is fragile (and too "shallow") and that care is needed in handling it. Gooseneck notwithstanding, I would suggest that you adjust the lamp to the best position for your needs, then leave it alone. If you have received your new lamp, I hope this helps; if you have not, you might want to reconsider.

After writing my complaint, I read through some of the others regarding this same company and found a few different phone numbers in various posts. The first number I rang allowed me the opportunity to leave a voice message for customer service, which I did. The very next morning, I received a phone call from someone called Shaneesa (sorry if I've mis-spelled that) and she told me that what i needed to do was call back the customer service centre and ask for a pre-paid shipping label so that I could return the broken lamp at no cost to me. When I called the number she had given me, I spoke with a very friendly young man called Daniel who said that I did NOT have to return the lamp since it was broken and that he simply would put in a new order for another lamp to be sent to me. I had initially planned to just return the lamp and ask for Starcrest to credit my bank card, but decided to go ahead and take delivery of the second lamp......with hopes that this one wouldn't be broken or defective in any other way... Stay tuned... there could be another update (for those interested)
