SYSGE Larry Golberg Possible SCAM or sick person enjoing his time New Brunswick
When I was on the market looking for a new job I was contacted via Workopolis web site by the person named Larry Goldberg. He offered a part of full-time project coordinator job at SYSGE to manage the program for foreign students who plan to visit Canada for vacation-studies. I sent him my resume and in few days he informed me by email that I was hired. He asked to provide some details such as home address, reference list, etc. No interview. The first "red light" in my mind started blinking when I read the contract the he sent me. It was too much "very high level". Then he sent me a first assignment which really surprised me. I had to create a presentation about my own city minimum on 20 pages and sent it to him. When I asked the question about the reason of this work he could not answer. Then I decided to check on Google about the company he represented. If you simply type it as SYSGE, Google search comes with nothing. However, the link worked if you click on it in his email. But that was a different web-site. And finally, when I started to check the first email that I received I found out that it was a "fishy" address, not directly from Garry. Moreover, he signs his last name as Goldberg while it says "Golberg" at the top of the message.
The guy has a very strong Russian accent. When I asked him whether or not he speaks Russian he said he did not. And of course you would not find many Russians named Larry Goldberg (or Golbert for this case). When I called him and sent him an email asking to clarify all these questions he stopped responding right away. I would consider the guy is either sick or it's a scam. I'm glad I didn't provide him with my banking info for "direct deposits".
