Call them back and request that they remove the entire late fee! If you have proof it was taken on the 2nd, then show that, IF you paid it via the webiste, the payment is effective that day or the next, regardless of when it comes out of your account. If you get someone in India, ask to be transferred to the US then - not a problem.

Hello, I work for a credit card company myself and I just wanted to let you know that 90 percent of credit card companies don't report you late until you hit the 31st day of being past due. I know this is sure for Target as well. Although you feel you didn't deserve that late fee at least you can sit more comfortable knowing it has not effected you credit score or your future potential to buy things on credit. P.S. If you ask for a supervisor they will transfer you to Americans. But thats about as high as it goes. If you ask for a supervisor past them you will most likely have to wait to get a call back.
