Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We have made 2 separate purchases at The Dump in Houston, TX.  "Each purchase" cost many thousands of dollars. No issues with merchandise.  No issues with the salesman.

The issue is that the furniture was to be delivered Friday, November 9. I was called by the delivery people today and the message left stated a certain time it was to be delivered. Tomorrow is Veteran's Day celebration at my kids school, and as a veteran,  I will be participating at the school ceremony.

I called the delivery people that The Dump uses/contracts/or otherwise has some business relationship with, and was told flat out that if I want to change the date or time of delivery, there would be a fee.  I told them, "look you just called me telling me the delivery time, why is there a fee?"  Her answer was because that's how it is.  So I asked, half heartedly, what the fee would be.  She replied over $800!!!

So I paused, waiting for the joke to continue.  The problem was that it never came. I asked her to repeat that amount.  She did.  Over $800 to change the delivery time or date. I hung up on her.

I called The Dump in Houston, TX today and spoke with the manager. Could never quite clearly hear his name (Sander, Zander???).  I shared with him what I was told, hoping that he would find it as unusual as I.  Wrong.  His tone was immediately standoffish, accusatory, and he spoke in a demeaning way as though I am some dumb bumpkin.  He attempted to interrogate me about what his employee allegedly told me when I made the purchase(s), demanded to know why I made the delivery date when I had some other event to go to, and refers me back to the contract about restock fees and that the fee the girl told me was equivalent to a 20% restock charge. Amazingly, he had no issue with what I was telling him.

What restock? There is no job cancellation, just a simply delivery delay by 2 hours.

Point blank I told him that after my two purchases totalling over $8,000 in sales, and that as a U.S. military veteran going to a veteran's day celebration at my kids school, and the fact that I called within an hour of receiving their proposed delivery time to try and accommodate my schedule slightly, this is the service and attitude I get?  There is something very very wrong with this picture, with this delivery company, and moreso, with The Dump's Houston, TX manager.

So my favorite line this manager tells me (with an ongoing attitude) after this is, "So what do you want me to do for you?"  I said it's pretty clear, change my delivery time or day.  Finally he told me he would check and call me back...no promises.

He did call back within an hour or two and adjust the time of delivery, not the date.  THAT WAS ALL I WANTED in the first place. How hard is it to accommodate a good customer or any customer for that matter with such a simple request? What a foolish business decision and what a foolish individual.  He eventually waived the fee as well. Thanks, but I never would have paid that absurd fee.

Nevertheless, if I didn't push back, not take no for an answer, they would have literally charged me over $800 for a delivery change.  The product has been in their warehouse, it is not as though it is coming from a million miles away, and when we spoke this afternoon (around 2pm) I highly doubt the delivery truck was even loaded.

BOTTOM LINE:  Prices are ok, salesman ok, post-sales issue remarkably poor.  Poor attitudes from bottom to top, selfish, uncaring, and insensitive personnal.  This incredible shock over this alleged delivery change fee (they called it a restock when NOTHING had to be restocked, only temporarily delayed) ends my business relationship with The Dump and my business partner who has herself spent over $10,000 with them.  I shall spread the word of this.

FYI:  To prove what I am alleging, don't go buy anything there, but if you already have, call to make a potential delivery change and see what they tell you; 20% restock fee.  Yet they are not restocking anything as nothing is being returned. If you haven't bought there, good for you, but again, you can present to them the same scenario and see what they say.

I say good day and good by and do not buy from them.
