I ordered a custom couch from The Roomstore in Gresham Oregon toward the end of 2000, not realizing the store would be closing early the next year. I received my couch and some of the pillows were the wrong color (after I had called and verified them). The delivery men assured me the correct ones would be sent. I've yet to see them. Shortly after this couch arrived and I examined it better, I noted big wide light colored stitching on the seams and a number of the pillows started to unravel and come apart. It almost immediately lost a button. It also is not well stuffed and the pillows are almost flat. It's only my small daughter and myself so this couch doesn't get a lot of use. I called the Gresham Roomstore and was repeatedly assured that my calls would be returned until the day it closed and I was told at that time they could not help me. I called customer service, and was told that I must order a completely new couch....which seemed silly as it was custom-made and ALSO not the right colors...I'd also waited MONTHS for it.

At this time, I've only received one call from the corporate offices in Texas and was told someone would be calling to make arrangements to view the couch. Nobody ever did. During all other calls I was treated as though I was off my beam (although when a customer who has purchased a $900 couch repeatedly is ignored...it DOES tend to make you a little angry!!!). I refuse to pay for this couch and have never heard another word from the Roomstore except once when they offered to send the correct colored pillows (which never arrived) and offered me $50. This does not begin to even compensate me for postage and long distance.

What I want, is this monstrosity which is missing buttons and falling apart, out of my living room, and the money I've already paid returned to me (I paid half originally).

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with, and as the financing company is now threatening to turn me into collections, I'm seeing a lawyer tomorrow.

After my original report, I saw a lawyer who wrote the Roomstore a letter asking for resolution of my issues. 4 days ago I had a message left for me in a strong accent of some sort by a woman named Smith. She said "it would be in your own best interest" to call the number and extension left for me. She didn't say who she represented or what it concerned, and I could barely make out the phone number...I couldn't make out the extension at ALL. I called the number and was surprised to have the phone answered HRS. I asked for a Ms. Smith. The person answering the phone didn't know who she was or what she wanted. He didn't know why they were calling but said my account had been "blocked" whatever that means. I'm still unhappy with this business and the way they treat their customer. The nasty tone of the message left for me and unintelligible message were the icing on the cake. Don't do business with this company!!!
