Thrift Savings Plan TSP Requested Roth withdrawal of $15,000.00 and got $13,000.00 with after tax. Had been using ROTH to avoid any taxes. TSP combined ROTH & TRADITIONAL account. Had to pay to get my own hard earned money due to representative gross error. Birmingham AL
Corporate companies get tax breaks and taxpayers pay for the free ride. The average individual is looking for the lowest interest loans for buying the American Dream, credit cards for emergency purposes. COVID 19 has taught everyone to be wise about financial decisions and to be thrifty about shopping. Not so with the Thrift Saving Plan (TSP) of 10 Inverness Center Parkway Suite 610, Birmingham, AL 35242.
Most likely people use the P.O. Box 385200 Birmingham, AL 35238 for mailing purposes. I initiated a Roth $15,000.00 withdrawal for a home improvement project to repay the bank the same exact amount. No one wants to pay tax on their hard-earned money therefore, I have been making withdrawals from Roth instead of the traditional account. The withdrawal did not process the first time therefore, this required me verbally speak with a TSP representative.
This was the $2,000.00 gross mistake. Days later upon checking for the transmission to the bank I was DOUBLE TAXED FOR A ROTH WITHDRAWAL! Yes, the representative had split the account for the ROTH and TRADITIONAL SAVINGS. From the onset it was clearly explained that the transaction was to be ROTH BUT WAS COMPLETELY IGNORED.
As a direct result of the grossly mistake I have to pay the bank interest due to shorten amount. In addition to this it has impacted a perfect 800 plus credit score. And let's not forget the fact lenders will have strong reservations any additional requests for loans. Above all what in the hell so I pay money to get my own dam money.
