My name is Joe. I took my car to Thunderbolt Transmission. My wife called before hand & talked to Larry @ 6847 Harrisburg, Houston, TX 77011 (713)923-8888.

I took my car up to them on the 1st of May and was told it would be a little over $1000.00 and would take 3-5 days. So I rented a car for the week and left it with them. I called them on the 5th and they hadn't even looked at my car. So I had to rent a car for another week. I called them on the 9th and Larry still didn't have an answer for me. I asked him what the progress was and he got an attitude saying that wasn't his job to give me updates on progress.

Finally I got my car on the 16th of May and the bill was $2500 on top of the $500 bill for my rental. Larry didn't offer me any apologizes of any kind. As a matter of fact he was rather rude with both my wife her father and myself. Rolling his eyes when I walked in grumbling when I called him and just being inhospitable to all ends.

I am happy with there work so far but I feel that a company like theirs with the baking of Houston Business Assoc & BBB should have a much better grasp with customer service. I am 28 years old and have been around cars all my life. I have never been treated like such a child or unintelligent person in all my life, not even when I was a teenager.

Again I have no problem with the work the mechanics did. My problem is with the person they put in charge of dealing with all Transmission Repairs, Larry. I feel I am owed at the least an apology for rudeness not to mention the extra money I could have saved if I would have known I was going to need a rental for 3 weeks instead of 1.

My personal experience with this company was very good. My engine went out on my 1997 Jeep Wrangler.  I took it to several shops around Katy and Richmond, and the estimates varied from $2,500 to $4,200.  I called Thunderbolt, and they quoted $1800. They sent a tow truck to pick it up for free, told me it would take 2 weeks to replace the engine, kept me constantly appraised of how things were progressing, and got the job done with three days to spare.  I am a loyal Thunderbolt customer for life.

After reading the comment trail, I think it is sad that this guy Larry died of a heart attack.  I think customers should give service folks a break.  Maybe the guy just wasn't feeling well. I don't think it is fair to chastise a whole company just because of one employee. I take my hat off to Thunderbolt, and I am very thankful for them. Brian S. Clark, Richmond, TX.
