Toby Richard is an incompetent roofer, first and foremost, but he also is a storm chaser to sends people to knock on unsuspecting people's doors, telling them he is a "local" company.
His website falsely claims his company is a BBB Accredited Business. The BBB clearly states it is not.
Go to his website http://www.tjrconstruction.us/ and click on "Contact Us" and you will see that he recently added an address in Pennsylvania, even though he lives in Massachusetts. If you map the address listed:

It's actually just a house in a neighborhood where one of his buddies lives.
He cheated a relative of mine in Bethlehem PA out of several thousand dollars. She is disabled and had to apply for financial help to pay for her roof job via the Hurricane Sandy fund, and Toby gladly took all her money and screwed her over with no scruples. Somehow he still has an A+ rating because people in these areas can't find him on their local BBB to complain.
He now also has an address in Connecticut:

He only lists a toll free number 800-766-3514 for all three addresses. This is because there is only one real office at:

which is where he lives.
He does a lousy job when he does do a job, but more importantly, he cheats customers and his own employees. When I was talking with a salesman, the salesman said Toby owed him $2500 and he didn't expect to get it, so he was going to quit. Toby, one day your karma will catch up to you. You can't keep cheating people.
You can also clearly see violations of the BBB rules where he lists that he is an accredited business and puts an A+ rating logo on his site. This is not allowed because your rating can change

He will act very nice and accomodating, but actions speak louder than words. He is a sad, helpless, incompetent man. Having spoken to his wife, she expressed similar frustrations with doubting him. But weeks later, after he had taken my family's money, I suppose she was satisfied. If that's how you have to make your living Toby, bear in mind that you are one of those people that gives the entire industry a bad name, and when you steal from people, it has major effects on their lives.
