On October 25th I made arrangements with Tim Williams (I believe he also sometimes uses the name Terry Williams) of Top Notch Auto transport. I informed him that my vehicle absolutely needed to be picked up by December 28th. This gave him over two months to get it shipped. I also told him that it could be picked up anytime before the 28th of December but could not be picked up after. Tim stated that was not a problem.
As time got closer I became worried and called several times and was told that it was not a problem. I told him I was concerned because of the holidays. Tim again said it would be picked up and would not be a problem. Well the 28th came and went and nobody picked up the car. Based on Tim's assurances the car would be picked up by the 28th my wife purchased plane tickets and had to fly to the west coast. We then had to leave the car in a storage facility. I again made repeated calls to Tim who said it was beyond his control because of the holidays. I reminded him that I had brought this fact up earlier and that unless he is new that the holidays come around the same time every year.
At this point I'm paying storage fees and do not have the use of a truck.
I then get a call back from Tim indicating he can ship the truck but needs an additional $400. Top Notch Auto transport is a scam. I think the fact that the company keeps changing names and goes by several different names should have been a clue. Rather than picking the car up on time I think they create these last minute situations where people become desparate. They then call back and jack up the price hoping people will just pay it.
If a company is given over two months and can't secure a transport I would call that company and Mr. Williams incompetent. The other thing about Top Notch is that they are merely a broker. You give them a request to transport and they then put it up on the Central or National boards and wait for a driver to pick it up. It was suggested by a carrier that Top Notch does not have a very good reputation amongst the drivers/carriers so jobs listed by the are usually passed over by the driver's and carriers.
