I wanted to tell you about some issues that I have with my recent trip to Israel. One major issue caused what would have been a great trip to really suck. You provided an incredible guide who was extremely knowledgable and a pleasure to be with. The main problem was with the hotels. All were substandard however the first was out the door crappy place.

As I was boarding the plane to begin my trip Trafalgar notified my travel agent that they had changed my hotel. I was originally booked at the Dan Panorama in Jerusalem, which was walking distance to the Old City (which happens to be the location that anyone visiting Jerusalem would want to visit). My hotel was changed to a sub class hotel in suburban Jerusalem (absolutely not within walking distance to the city). We were rebooked in the Dan Jerusalem on Scopius Hill. This hotel had one restaurant and was close to nothing in the way of dining.

I had spent many months planning my trip to understand restaurants in the local area of the hotel we were booked and it was a huge disappointment to be rebooked at this hotel.

Talk about bait and switch. I would like to formally request a refund for this hotel. It was at best a 2 star hotel and maybe not even that much.

I was told by the Trafalgar representative that the reason I was rebooked was because of construction at the original hotel. Several of the people on the tour came early and stayed in the Dan Panorama and said there was absolutely no construction. They said the Dan Panorama was over sold. I found this interesting since we booked almost a year ago. I wonder what kind a deal Trafalgar was given to move us to the other hotel. I guess they booked us space available only?

Trafalgar supposedly was going to make it right by providing a dinner and shuttle service. The dinner was the same buffet that was the only restaurant available in the hotel. The food consisted of boiled meats and salad without any lettuce - very bad indeed.

The shuttle that Trafalgar was going to provide took you at 7:00 to the Jaffa gate and dropped you there and then was supposed to pick you up at 9:00 pm. I chose to take a cab instead for mine and my wife's safety.

The hotel that they put us in was not only old Hyatt but lacked the basic amenities that I consider acceptable for a 4 star hotel.

Trafalgar Travel Always Uses Slum Area Hotels

Trafalgar Travel ruined our trip to Israel too.  They put us in the Leonardo Plaza Hotel for three nights in Jerusalem.  The place is a dump and is located in a part of the city that is a slum.  The hotel staff was arrogant and rude.  Same for the Dead Sea area.  Trafalgar put us in a hotel in the Dead Sea area that was broken down and in bad need of a renovation. It had serious maintenance issues, and again, the staff was rude.

Trafalgar Travel has a long standing reputation for using low class substandard hotels, and I just wish we had known that before we booked our vacation to Israel with them.
