Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My husband won this certificate for a free trip to his choice of 3 destinations. This trip included hotel and free airfare. We were so excited. When we called they said they could upgreade our trip to a free cruise for only $20.00. So that is what we did. Today I called to book our " free " cruise, only to be told it would be $198.00 per person for the port charges and taxes. I explained that this cruise is only $229.99 per person plus $60.93 for port fee's and taxes directly thru the cruise line that there is no way that the port fee's were that much. "Oh, our brochure says port fee's plus miscellanies charges", stated the Travel America employee.

So this is no free cruise or just a cruise that you pay your own port charges. They are making a mint, plus the money they make getting these company's to buy these " free" vacations to give away. This is a scam! This is no " free" trip. Company's please, stay away from these promotional give aways, my husband won this one at his job at General Motors, it had been donated by a chevy dealership here in Indiana.

Being a business owner, I conducted my due diligence on Travel America (TA) after I was contacted by them. I saw this site and searched the Net and then decided to work with them. I wanted to post my experience here after the promotion and seeing if they travel the customers. First off, the promo went great. It got people in the door and was successful at moving furniture. My nephew's wife wanted some furniture so I threw in a trip for them and told them to book this asap...which they did. Last week, they just returned from Vegas. They were able to get the first date that they selected and really had no problems at all with TA. They were able to get through to a booking agent every time they called and were able to stay an extra night for a very low surcharge.

Now I went through the original sample kit that my TA rep sent and nothing in there said free so I belive you are mistaken. It is the buying's companies responsibility for what they advertise and tell there sales staff to say. I said 'complimentary'...which is was. Sure people 'free' and expect everything to be free. What in this world is free folks? Please tell me becuase I want some! You have to pay some sort of tax or fee on everything so why would this be any different....It cost each of them $98 to get to vegas with hotel and airfare and only $49 for an extra day. How can you complain about that from the east coast? No one can...and if they do they need to wake up and quit being so stupid. Some people just expect more I guess. So 'you have to pay yout own port charges...so, what do you expect, everything to be handed to you? How would anyone make money on this if you didn't? Aren't business in business to make money...I know that I am

All in all, I am pleased by both the service and products from TA. My sale srep, Tim, in THE STATES is awesome and they do have an office in canada...so yeah, they can call themselves Travel America....maybe it should be Travel North America...would that make you happy? Quit whining and go to Costco for your 'free' samples...wiat they aren't free...you have to pay a membership fee!!

Go write your Senator about that one too...you have no idea what you are talking about and I would LOVE to see this letter...it will surely be laughed at thrown in the trash..Where's your truth?...and I went to the site you posted...they are people there who went on these trips and are happy!

I can't believe these frauds are still in business.  I dealt with them several years back and thought they would be gone by now.  We didn't end up using our certificate and just ended up throwing it out after purchasing our family van.  There were so many terms attached that it made it difficult to use.

First question I have is why do they call themselves Travel America when they're clearly operating out of Langley, British Columbia Canada?  Right from the start it appears to be one big lie.

As a medical professional I wanted to dig deeper and try and understand why they would choose such a generic name "Travel America." Well here's the answer, because it's so difficult to find them in search engines and BBB's when their name is mixed up with thousands of other companies and articles that have incorporated the term Travel America in their company name and material.

Bottom line is this.  If you dig deep enough you will find the complaints.  And you will find reports from ex employees all over the web as well.

It's about time the truth comes out about these fraudulent travel promotion companies.  There is a buyer beware special airing on ABC about these types of scams.  I hope someone puts a stop to this in the White House.  We need some legislation put into place immediately.  I will be writing my local Senator. I encourage you all to contact yours as well.

I have to say that Travel America's incentives are great and work...I have been a customer of their's since 2005 and I have never received a single complaint from any of my customers. I have even had a few referrals from customers who went on a trip. I must say that I am fully aware of the taxes, fees, etc. and fully explain this to my salesstaff and csutomers. It is a companies fault if they do not and have upset customers - NOT travel america's...I fully recommend them and their services to anyone who is looking into a customer incentive.

I have purchased over 15 times from Travel America, and have never had any complaints. Most of my clients are repeat customers and they always ask if we are still running the travel promotions as that is what they want for sales incentives. What I find most ridiculous is the compalint of having to pay money to travel on these certificates. The traveller is responsible to pay the taxes and fees. Just as if you won a "free car" on the Price is Right, you still have to pay the taxes and fees asscoaited with that prize. The terms and conditions are clear, and this is all explained to the companies that buy these types of rewards. If they do not disclose this information to you, it is them you should be upset with, not Travel America. These types of incentives have worked great for us, and our customers always have great things to say about their experience with Travel America. Secondly, the post from the ex employee, does not "Spill All", the only thing he spills is his unprofessionalism and obvious need for revenge, plus his desperate and pathetic attempt at getting some attention. Clearly from the rebuttal to his comments that was listed from Travel America, his lack of intergrity and his low self esteem, and his inablity to work with others, it why he was let go. In the three years I have dealt with Travel America I have dealt with several employees both in Sales and Customer Service and they all remain working there today. These are people I have had many dealings with and I find them to be smart, intelligent and resourceful people, who would not be working there this long if it was such a bad and horrible place to work. They all seem to enjoy their work, get along with their coworkers and respect the owner. I guess I only have say that this Ex Employee is upset and vengeful that he was let go for good reason and he missed his opportunity to work at an amazing company. It would be a great disservice for anyone that has a certificate or a company that is considering buying these kind of incentives to take what these people are complaining about at face value and not use these incentives based on what these people have written. I would take their comments with a BLOCK of salt. It is too bad that people have nothing better to do than fabricate stories, exaggerate and take business away from a company that, in my opinion, is one of the few companies out there that care about their clients, customers and employees.

The message dated 10/24/07 was posted by our ex-employee David who was terminated after one short month with the company. David was terminated on 10/23/07 for abusing the company by surfing the internet while he was supposed to be working and hiding in the halls making cell phone calls for hours on end. David was warned about the excessive cell phone calls and was then found hiding in the empty office next door making cell phone calls which resulted in the owner terminating him. This message was posted by David in a childish attempt to exact revenge against Travel America for his termination. David sent the following email to management upon his termination: "I have never been terminated before and always got along with everyone. I am very disappointed this didn't work out." David then proceeded to threaten the owner with a lawsuit for supposed illegal activities which David was unable to name. The threatened lawsuit never came to fruition and that is because David had absolutely no proof of any illegal activity by Travel America and was just making empty threats in an attempt to intimidate Travel America because he was terminated. This was yet another petty attempt to ruin the reputation of Travel America who has an "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau and is one of the leaders of incentive travel in the United States and Canada.

yea i used to work for this company in irvine the owner is a total jerk. i hated the place an was a real bad environment. they make you make cold calls all day long to send out information about there crappy vacations and the car dealerships are all like pissy and mad for you disturbing them all the time.they dont want no one going to las vegas cuz they dont make money off that trip. they really make it hard for someone to go there and the call center tries to make money on upgrades so you stay longer by booking through them. they only have like 1 or 2 days a week that you can go and only a couple months a year. its real, but they dont let no one go there instead they try to get you on this cruise. you can only go in the winter months or hurricane seasons and they put you on the bottom of the ship in bunk beds for real. no one wants to sleep on bunk beds so again they make loads of money so you upgrade to a normal room. i saw the canncun trip but it doesnt include air so no one goes on that one either.who has a passport and wants to go to cancun fduring a hurricane no one thats who. especally since you have to sit throgh a time share and buy your own ticket to fly. stay away from this compoany!!!!they nmake money on the backend even if you dont go on the trip.they say they have a A rating with the BBB but thats all bs because anyone can buy a rating with them. check yahoo or google. anyway they treat there employees like crap and they dont care about there custoimers they just trying to steal your buck. stay away!!!

Hi Terriegirl, I'm not sure who you spoke to, or even what was said, but the information provided in your report is not congruent with company policy. First of all, we have different packages that are for "employee use." The purchaser of our product (said Chevy dealership in Indiana) is supposed to use our vacation incentives for business purposes, not friends, family, and in most cases, employees. Secondly, the trip provides airfare for Las Vegas only, and lodging for all 3 vacations. Omni and Sunset resorts in Cancun, the Riviera Deck for the Carnival Cruise, and select properties in Las Vegas such as the NYNY, Tropicana, Bally's, Hilton, Rio, and others depending on availability. In your circumstance, it is unfortunate that the purchaser or employee of the dealership did not explain to you the details of the package - before we sell to a dealership, we explain to the purchaser what is and is not included. Personally, my own integrity prohibits me from selling or misleading someone into buying, and professionally, we strictly adhere to this policy when contacting potential clients. In the event that your situation arises and the details are not explained to you, there is a form included with the brochure called "Terms and Conditions." "This offer is valid for passage of two adults on a 5 day cruise. Airline tickets, airline transfers, port charges, taxes, and miscellaneous expenses are not included. This certificate includes all meals and most shipboard activities. Alcoholic beverages are not included with this offer." After receiving the certificate, to book, customers must send $40 for registration - this is the fee we pay to cover the booking fee and registration with Carnival. This is stated clearly in the T&C. What is not stated is the port fee charge, or otherwise known as "Government Departure Fee." This is something required of all Cruise lines - some agencies include this in their price, others do not. $198 is the current charge, and is a standard, and accepted price among Cruise lines. By your own submission, I'm not sure why you are complaining of rip-off. You stated each person pays $229.99 per person plus $60.93. For two people, this amounts to $581.84, but that is for room only. Here is a link to carnival.com - it's a 4 day cruise leaving LA to Catalina, and Ensenada, and back again. Click Here. From October 2007-December 2007, the prices range from $249 per person to $429 per person for an inside cabin, more for ocean view. At the bottom is this: "* Rates (U.S. dollars) are per person, based on double occupancy. Government fees/taxes and optional air transportation are additional for all guests. Rates are subject to availability and may change without prior notice. Restrictions apply. " As you can see, the Cruise you didn't pay for, but "won" costs you $40 to register, and $198x2 = $396, for a grand total of $436. This includes 2 people, 5 days, not 3 or 4, AND food and entertainment. You said: "So this is no free cruise or just a cruise that you pay your own port charges. They are making a mint, plus the money they make getting these company's to buy these " free" vacations to give away. This is a scam! This is no " free" trip." Think of it this way: if you were a contestant on Wheel of Fortune, and you won a car, you would STILL have to pay the taxes. If you win the Powerball Lottery, Uncle Sam is going to get his share. This is no different. To you, yes, this is a free cruise. You didn't pay for it - you're paying the taxes, which as demonstrated, are certainly not "unreasonable," nor a scam. You also said: "Company's please, stay away from these promotional give aways, my husband won this one at his job at General Motors, it had been donated by a chevy dealership here in Indiana." It seems to me that you were the victim or benefactor of unauthorized use. As a victim, I apologize for the disconnect - you should have been ineligible (under most circumstances, and with limited knowledge of the situation obtained only from what you posted), or in the least, informed by whoever gave it to you of the terms and conditions, which are additionally included on the form you have to submit before booking and registration can occur. For business purposes, please see www.travelamericainc.com For personal use, information, and availability, please reference www.diamondgetaway.com Graciously, Jason at Travel America
