Triple R Construction gave a quote to do a major remodle for my business the earlier part of June of this year, the major construction was to be combining my 780 square feet of floor space with the 1200 square feet in the vacant building to the north. I was impressed with both the price and the people and gave them the contract.

My feelings soon were to change. They seemed to be working out well during the first few days. They asked for a $2500 deposit and told me they would not ask for any more money until job completion. Wrong!! before the end of the week they asked for another $3000. After less than a week I had paid them $5500. They failed to show up for work the entire following week. Now I'm aware!! They made no notes, wrote nothing down and conviently forgot many of the projects we had discussed in the beginning and when I made mention of these items they claimed I was adding new projects and let me know that by doing these additional jobs they would have to increase the quoted price.

The next two days they worked long hours and seemed to make up for lost time. Not suprisingly, they once again asked for another sum of money. Five thousand ($5000) was the amount they now needed, bringing the total amount I had paid them to date to $10,500. The quoted price for the entire job was to have been approximately $14,500.The project is less than half complete and I've paid two thirds of the entire cost. They probably spent 6 hours of actual work time during the next week to 10 days. I called them on a daily basis for that time period and Robert Sr. either kept his phone turned off or just didn't answer it and Robert Jr. spoke with me on two occassions, telling me he would call his father and have him return my call.

The first evening Robert Sr. returned my call approximately 9:30 P.M. and was told I would return in approximately 30 minutes. He remarked that he"d be in bed by that time. The next afternoon I called and was told once again that Robert Jr. would have his Dad call me. He never called.

I'd like to make mention of the fact that this is a business, earning most of its revenue from the sale of gift baskets and Items for the home. Merchandise cannot be displayed for sale amidst all the dust and clutter that we were being subjected too, and no one seemed to care. I was told in the beginning that my business would not be disruppted and life would continue as usual. My business has been "CLOSED FOR REPAIRS" for the past three weeks.

This email is a rebuttal to RipOff #5901. It was sent by Julie at [email protected]. Triple R Construction LACK OF Services and a ripoff (#5901) They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report: Their email: [email protected] Their name: Julie Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion Rebuttal: You should immediately contact the Building Division in your community (where the permit was pulled) regarding this contractor's performance. Further, investigate what agency in your state licenses and regulates contractors. Learn what bond or insurance is required for your state, then present your documentation (written estimate/quote/bid, copies of receipts and checks, etc) and try to make a claim against their bond. Did you get lien releases from suppliers who were paid from the money you put down? All of this, of course, is helpful only if you hired a licensed, bonded, insured general contractor: If you hired a tailgate toiler, you've got REAL trouble. Good luck!!!
