I contacted United Financial Group for a personal loan to pay off some old debts. I gave the information over the phone and they told me I have approvied for $10,000 and I could receive the money in 24 - 48 hrs if I choose direct deposit. Which of course I chose because I was desperate

The lady I was dealing with, Diane Kane, advised me that there are 3 ways to secure the loan. Using the title of a home, the pink slip of a car or 10% cash down payment as insurance.

I chose the 10% because I do not have a house or a paid off car. Diane requested that I send the $1000 via Western Union to an individual named Devika Sharma. Which I did and called Diane back after I had sent the money and gave her the Money Control Number. This was on Thursday night 12/14.

On the initial call Diane had told me that their hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. eastern standard time. It was late on Thursday evening so I told Diane I would call her in the morning with the Money Control Number. She stated that she had a lot of loan requests and would be working late.

I called with the money Control number. On Monday, 12/18 Diane calls me and tells me I didn't pay the Administrative fee of $600. I told Diane I didn't have $600 and that amount was never mentioned to me in the initial conversation. She asked me to hold on while she spoke to the Finandial dept. Came back and told me that they would bring the admin fees down to $300. Told her I don't have any more money because I gave her my whole paycheck.

I asked Diane if she could bring my loan amount request to $7000 since she already has my $1000. She said she would talk to her finance department and call me back. Today is 12/20, I have not heard from her and there is no money in the bank.

This also happended to my sister.

1) It's against the law to charge an advance fee for a loan. Google "Advance Fee Loan" and check it out. The FTC website has a good article on it. You need to file a complaint on the FTC site too. 2) It's never a good idea to send money via Western Union except to someone that you know. It is NOT the fastest way to send cash to a company/individual that has a bank account. It is in fact the safest way to scam someone.
