Being a low income family living on $480.00 a month until disability goes through, the thought of saving money on my utilities in the winter was a God send. (So we thought). When we started getting charged $l.04.9 instead of .76 a ft., for gas heat, we were done with. In our case, our electric and gas are combined into one bill through consumers energy (who allowed this to happen as well), so if you can't pay one, you get shut off for both. Our heat bills in the winter started running between $550.00 and $600.00 a month. As I stated before, we live on $480.00 a month right now.

Needless to say, we could have cancelled within 30 days of signing up(didn't get first bill until way after that) or we could pay a $250.00 early termination fee, (what a joke) and switch back to consumers. We are now over 3 weeks without electric, which runs our water pump as well) and gas, (our stove). Also, our 17 year old daughter is pregnant and they are threatening to condemn our house because we have no water.

If you see these people coming--bolt, lock, and shout out NOOOOOOOOOOO

It is going to take a long time to come up with $2500.0 to pay these back bills from winter.

Just pray for us and anyone else thinking they can lower their bills this way.
