Before I bought my Nordictrack treadmill at Sears, I did some research on the Internet and found ripoffreport.com. I discovered a couple of reports here, but didn't think much of it, a couple of bad experiences doesn't out of thousands of sales? What's the chance. So I bought the treadmill, $999.00 a T9CI.
The salesman offered the extended warranty (Repair Protection agreement), which I purchased. I specifically asked what would happen if the display went out and the parts were not available. He said they would send someone FREE OF CHARGE to attempt the repair, if the parts were not available, the Item would be replaced FREE OF CHARGE.
It took me 3 hours to put the darn thing togather. 10 days later, the display kicked out. I called Sears, who told me to call Nordictrack, who told me to call Universal Technical. No prob, we will order you a new display and ship it out. Oops, but the part is on backorder, and there is no due date. Oh, but you can still use the equipment, right? Yah, but it's only been 10 days. I'm not going to wait for them to build another display, assuming they actually would.
I called Sears, and they are going to take the machine back and refund my money. They didn't even attempt to offer a replacement or even sell me another machine. I was completely cordial with them.
In conclusion, I wanted this to serve as a warning to everyone else.

Dear Customer,
I work for Nordic Track and apologize for your console going out so soon. The manufacturers warranty is in place to correct defects, which are usually found in the first 30 days, and other service or quality cases for the length of the warranty.
Under the terms of the warranty of which you were told, if a part is not avilable, meaning if its not made anymore and we dont have any in stock then the machine can be replaced.
If a part is temporarily out of stock we unfortunatley have to wait for those parts to come in. We do receive orders on a daily basis so usually you dont have to wait long for a part order. I want to assure you that we process, build, and QC all warranty offer as soon as possible and most orders are able to be shipped out the next day.
I apologize for your issues and offer our assistance for anything that you need.
Thanks
