I needed a new treadmill to start my weight loss program. My old one of 12+ years had finally worn out the tread.I want to Sears and decided on a new Nordic Track which was more that I could afford but I figured that it would last me well into my old age (I am 62).
This was about 1 1/2 years ago that it was delivered.Needing knee replacement surgery I was forced to use it only on the days that I felt my best.
My total usage on that treadmill was about 50-60 hours at a very moderate speed.
Last week I went to use it.I pluged it into an outlet and turned it on.As soon as it was turned on smoke was billowing out of the control panel.I pulled the plug and called the fire department being I did not know if this machine was going to go up in flames or not.As they say "where theres smoke theres fire".
Luckly there was no fire and my fire department said that I should call Nordic Track and report it.Well I called them and I was told that they had never herd of such a thing and that if I wanted to have a technician come to my home and look at it it would cost me $175.00.
If I wanted to purchase a new control panell it would exceed the original cost of the machine if I included installation of said panell.I wish that someone can help me with my problem.I am a retired school teacher living on a fixed income and cannot afford a new machine or to replace their controll panell.
I feel that Nordic Track has sold me a lemon and will not take responibility for their defective machine.
Doe's anyone have any suggestions???
