This report concerns those who had loved ones die in the September 11th attack, as well as the TRULY patriotic Americans who serve this country in the Armed Services.

This is not concerning myself being ripped off but for all families who have had loved ones die serving their country in war or in the line of duty. I do have the potential of being ripped off: My husband who serves in the US Air Force has less worth to the government that apparently those persons who died in the September 11th attacks. People who worked in an office building, doing lord knows what, and how patriotic were these individuals? Here's a good question: Were they people that voted Clinton into office and kept him there? Were the families the ones crying about the lousy defense and how unprepared this country was for these attacks? How much individual coverage did the families hold for the person who died?

If my husband were to die tomorrow serving his country, I would receive a slim $250,000. Not to mention this is life insurance that I am paying for every day. In comparison to the $1.3 Mil that families are receiving simply because their loved one was present and died in an attack. I think that is Bull s**t, they weren't even paying for the coverage. Why should any person be paid so much unmerited money for the death of any family member, whether they served for their country or simply worked in an office building. This was a devastating and horrible act that killed so many undeserving Americans, but those are unnecessary reactions. Money is not going to make the memories better, it won't bring them back, it won't get revenge, it isn't going to make you happy, and it will not make the way in which they died more acceptable.

Let's review a little history. What percentage of Americans living in New York Voted Clinton into office, and What percentage kept him there? Close to 19 million people live in NY state, 8 million in NYC. Clinton won the popular vote in NY by 50% in '92 and 59% in '96. Out of the 75% of people over the age of 18 in NYC half of them voted for him the first term and 59% the second term. That's over 3 million votes in '92 and 3.5 million in '96. Once he was in office Clinton was cutting the defense budget before we knew it. The people thought that there was too much money being spent for all this military stuff. Well, what is the vote now? People sure did change their minds quick once September 11th hit.

They are brothers, sisters, moms, grandparents... But why do they deserve special treatment when it comes to their deaths? The families of the victims of the attacks are receiving on average $1.3 Million dollars. Half of whom voted Clinton into office and who supported cutting the defense budget. So maybe half of the families should get the money? If they voted Clinton into office then they indirectly effected how the country was unprepared and how terrorists were able to perform the devastation that they did.

Another thing with the settlements are why the families should receive so much compensation for the money that the loved one would have made over the period of their life. Okay, let me get this straight the government is paying their salary of that person for their lifetime, that sounds great. Are they subtracting the dollar amount that it would cost to clothe that person? Feed that person? Shelter? What about the cost of getting to and from the job that is bringing in all that money?

Yeah, I didn't think so. This sounds a bit biased. Gee, does the military receive any kind of compensation for salary lost? Nope, not even for the length of their current enlistment term. People must really appreciate everything that the armed forces does for this country. This is so pathetic. I don't think that Americans are any more patriotic than they were before 9-11. People are still concerning themselves with unimportant material things, they still are missing the point.

It kind of makes me wonder how many of the families would rather have the money or the person back? Maybe it is an easy discussion for some. Although, it sure looks bad for all of the families. What if the government were not compensating the families and they only received what is truly due to them: The life insurance for that person. Would they be satisfied with that? It sure seemed okay before, if they were to die any other way.

There are some problems with this government that need to be reviewed. How would you feel if your husband, wife, son, had died in the Oklahoma City bombing or died in a war serving this country? Why is that death and less significant than those who died on 9-11 in the WTC attacks? If a family can receive monetary compensation for those deaths, what is to stop someone form seeing for compensation of an accidental death? What is their argument that they should get 1.3 mil simply because someone died?

It sure seems wrong to me that those serving in the military, those who provide themselves to serve and protect this country, are not worth the same as an innocent victim of a random attack of terrorism.

In no way am I trying to belittle the worth of those who died in the September 11 attacks. I am simply trying to understand the reasoning of the US Government. Those who died in the attacks were undeserving of such a horrible ending. The families are blessed to have known the victims for the time that they did.

While I do agree with your statement that the families of the 9-11 victims should only recieve the insurance money they are entitled to. I don't agree that they are all money hungry. When tragedy strikes victims are always looking for someone to blame, even if there is no one. To say that voting Bill Clinton in office and keeping him there is the reason for the 9-11 tragedy is completely foolish. I have to ask you, what could the armed forces have done about suicide terrorist boarding a airplane and crashing it into the world trade center? This is a very sad and tragic event in American history and if feel that so many people sympathize because, so many innocent civilians lost their lives. I know that you may feel that the life of your husband is being minimized. I don't feel that is the case. There are some risk involved with the occupation that you chose. One of the risk that your husband and many other men and women take in the protect and serve occupations, is the sad but real reality, that they may not come home to their families at the end of their shift. Although freak things do happen you don't expect for your loved one not to come home after a day at the office. Instead of blaming Mr. Clinton, look at the FBI. It is now coming to light that they were giving warnings about some of the terrorist intentions before 9-11 and nothing was done. I still feel that even with that can we really blame anyone, but the terrorist and their evil supporters.
