In the state of MD (where I reside) the "cleaners" are supposed to carry a particular type of insurance for instances such as this. I've been out of the insurance industry for a long time and I really can't remember what it's called. I think a dry cleaner is required to have "Bailee insurance" since they have temporary custody of your property and you expect your property to be returned in good condition. So, I would check with your state and make sure the same is true there. You may not want to go to court, or have the funds to do so but if it's worth it or is sentimental to you than that's an option. Good luck. Congrats on you Wedding!
