I contacted Vonage to hopefully limit my monthly long distance charges. They tout a fixed monthly rate for long diatance. I really can't say if this is true or not, because thier support could not help me get this braodband phone thing up and running while my wireless hub was connected.

Vonage sold me a Cisco router that they said had to go between the broadband hub and my wireless hub. Well they could never get all of it to work together.

After all this I gave up. I am stuck with a phone device a Cisco router, none of which they will take back... about ~$150.00.

Not only that they stuck me for a $41.00 "disconnect" charge. Do not fall into this trap. This is a huge Rip-Off.

I savored every minute of telling useless west what they could do with themselves. I ordered the small business package (free fax line). It did take a bit of a game of twister and three bows to the east to get it configured, but it is up and going finaly and I am happy. They dont have new mexico numbers yet but then I have no one here who I would care to convenience with local call. I have an oregon voice and a california fax and they work pretty good, but the voice line does on occasion drop and the fax is having kind of the same problem where it doesn't seem to allways work.(I speculate that it is the computer cause my regular fax machine does work fine) I am having an issue with the Alarm though.. ( for all you other alarm techs its a lynx communicating format is contact ID). All and all I love the service and would definately suggest it to anyone with a little computer savvy. as far as the fax issue, I would suggest not using computer modem but use a good old fashioned fax machine.

I have noted the following since my hook-up. I'm on Road Runner Cable, so maybe this makes a difference. When I first recieved my modem, I found that if one followed the directions and turned everything off before assembly of all the wires and waited about 10 minutes, I had no install problems. If I diverged from the instructions at all, then I was hosed. I have noticed that the fax system will not operate unless the max band width is chosen. I can hear the other fax answering, but my programs, WinFax and Hotfax, both will drop offline at the start. I have had to go to the "manual" send mode n order to get my fax to go through. I find that my success rate is about 20% 1st time connect and the rest average 3-4 connects. I have yet to successfully send a multiple page fax! A call to Vonnage Tech was no help at all. And I notice that they advertise getting a seperate fax line?!? Who would want the headache! Phone call are fine and I have had only one call dropped. Mai thing is, though, that I do save about $50 with Vonnage over Sprint down here.

I have just recently signed up with vonage. 41.95 a month for unlimited local and long distance phone service. They sent me a box...not sure what its called and a router that i purchased from them is by netgear. we hooked everything up first day it arrived and have been talking ever since. We are satisfied with the service so far. and if we could maybe help you hook yours up correctly we would be glad to.
