Vonage is being sued and as soon as the injunction against Vonage is issued you can kiss Vonage and your $$$ good-bye. So ditch Vonage and go with an established company. Cheers!!

You can set Vonage to automatically forward your calls to your cell phone or any other number you chose should you lose power or cable. If I am gone all day, I automatically set it to forward my calls to my cell. There is no rip-off here. You just don't seem to understand the concept of VOIP. If the electricity and/or cable goes down, it doesn't work unless you do as I stated. That isn't Vonage's fault.

If I am reading what you said correctly, you had this problem when you had a storm and lost power. Vonage is VOIP and requires both broadband internet and electric to work. If your power and/or internet went out, you can't use the phone until one or both are back on again. VOIP doesn't work like traditional phones. I'm sorry if you were under the impression it was, but I fail to see the ripoff this time. I have VOIP, but I went with Lingo since they provide much better service and a much lower cost per month while allowing you to call more parts of the world. When we lose power or internet goes down, we also lose our phone. That is the risk you take on when you go with VOIP instead of an analog phone line.
