firstly, why on earth would they block your debit card? that had nothing to do with the transaction right? and that store is still in the stone ages, i (wrongly) assumed all stores were electronically converting checks...basically "debiting" your money immediately. i guess not all stores are doing it. but even if they keyed in the numbers, that should not be cause for the check to end up in a collection agency. if you paid for the check in the store (I hope you got the check back at least), then it should not have been in collections with telescan. they didnt have the check, walmart does (right?) If the check never got presented to the bank for payment, telescan shouldnt even be in the equation. I'd get some legal advice for this one. sounds like walmart screwed up (big surprise)

You stated "their scanner could not read our acct. #". Why couldn't their scanner read your account number? IF there was a problem with the checks, I'd be talking to whoever printed the checks. IF it was a problem with walmart's scann ers, I'd be talking to an attorney. Funny story. Lady I know runs a printing company. She told me about a guy who wanted her to print up his checks WITHOUT the magnetic ink?, so they couldn't be scanned. That way, all his checks had to be entered manually. Gave him an extra week or ten days before his checks "hit" the bank. That was before the optical scanners. Weird.
