WarrantyUSA - The refund ripoff kings
On 09 June 2001 I responded to an offer from WarrantyUSA and decided to switch to their coverage on my automobile. About two hours later I called back and cancelled my order. I was given a cancellation number (#9990607). A few weeks later I noticed that my credit card had been charged $296.50 on the 9th of June and again on the 27th of June for the amount of $79.63 for a total of $376.13. I called back and pointed this out and was told that I would receive a complete refund within a few days.
I received a letter dated 05 July 2001 stating that they acknowledged cancellation of my account and that I would receive a refund in 6-8 weeks.
It is now December 14, 2001 and I am still waiting for my refund. I have made several calls to the company and been assured that , yes, I am entitled to a refund and that it will be coming soon. I have called their legal offices and left numerous messages but as of today I have still received no communication from the company.
Thier toll free number is (800) 441-6004. From there you can request to be transfered to their corporate offices. John Common is the owner of the company. I sent a letter to him with a return receipt requested to ensure that he receives it. I also notified Visa about the company. They tried to get the company to make the credit correction but also blew them off. I have filed a report with the Seattle Better Business Bureau and received a response that they had contacted the company but have since received no further communication from them. I can only assume that WarrantyUSA disregarded the BBB. I have also filed a report with the Consumer Protection Agency of Washington State's Attorney General Office but have received no communication from them.
This is a disreputable company that is interested only in ripping people off.
