Why are you saying it was their fault? They don't have a crystal ball telling them that these transactions weren't authorized. It's your responsibility to go to the bank and tell them these are fraudulent transactions, and to have them reversed. Read the reports on this site to learn how to get your money back.

You said yourself that you gave them your account number. In this age of electronic transactions, there is no way Washington Mutual knew you were being ripped off. Next time put the blame where it lies. cintact the bank and protest the charges.
