I signed up for a LINUX hosting plan with web.com in July of 2008. After singing up, Web.com over-charged me by $20 for a total of $40 just this past July. I called them back and alerted them of the mistake. Instead of refunding my request, they said that they would have their team investigate this matter further. From a business point of view, I thought that was a smart idea, even though I was right in this and have 2 receipts proving that I was telling the truth.

Before this even occured, I saw on one of my websites/hosting plans with web.com that they charged me an additional $8 without my permission. It was an upgrade to an old website. Although upgrades are good, "I never gave my permission for the upgrade". I was on there basic hosting plan for $12 per month which is what they call sitebuilder. So we have $8 plus another $20 taking from me. All I want at this moment is a $28 refund.

But here's the best part, they never issued a refund after waiting for weeks. So I said, ok I forgive web.com for there mistake. I called them back and asked them why I wasn't on a LINUX hosting plan yet, as I could clearly see the Microsoft Windows hosting plan. In there reply, they told me that they were sorry. I waited nearly a week and no results yet. I have called them over 10 times, everytime they say that the problem will be fixed within 24 hours or less, nothing happened.

So here it is folks-WEB.COM Ripped me off for a total of $48

They upgraded my account on on of my websites without my permission-$8

They overcharged me on my supposed to be LINUX account-$20

They still had me on a Windows hosting account, which I did not sign up for $20

I was willing to forgive them everything if they would put me on the LINUX plan as I requested. Since they didn't, my website was down, because my designer and also myself could not access the site, as to upload new material from Joomla. I have lost over $500 in business, potentially $1000 USD and also was ripped off $48 by web.com

I have no desire or intentions of making a bad name for web.com. I forgive them for what they did to me, but must advise anyone who wants to do business with them to be careful. Because from the way I was treated and I am a nice guy, it could be hundreds or thousands of other peoples that they treated this way. Does this mean that they intentially do this? No, I don't believe that. But in my experience, they hire most of there help from a 3rd world ASIAN country who seems to be smart, but many of them do not know english, nor do they know what they are doing sometimes. I don't believe it is the language barrier alone. I believe they hire people who are not qualified for these positions and often overlook what needs to be done. Let this be a warning to everyone who goes to web.com and who wants to build a website. I was scammed out of $48 and put on the wrong hosting plan which does not work with myself or my designer. Please be cautious and put your money in good hands.

Thank you-

Your friend in integrity,

Stephen

After reviewing ripoffreport.com information under web.com's reputation, I see that other people have been ripped off by the same company. My name is Stephen, I don't know how you would get in touch with me, but if we all come together. Perhaps there could be hundreds of us or thousands, we could file a lawsuit against web.com "Just imagine all the $48 rip offs or things they have done to other people, like they did to me or you". $48 times a thousand cases- $48thousand dollars. Now just imagine if they made 10,000 mistakes- $480,000, nearly a half of a million dollars because of a careless approach. We need to speak up. We need to come together. Because if web.com has done this to you and to many others, they will do it again and take in thousands of dollars again and again. They must be accountable, it is only right. Thank you again- Your friend, Stephen
