I am the former owner of a shutter manufacturer in the san fernando valley. i have 37 years experience in the window covering industry encompasing installation , production, retail, and wholesale. Before starting my own company I was one of seven sales reps for Empire window fashions and here is my story.

I provided installed shutters in a wholesale capacity to a decorator named cindy Margott DBA First rate blinds & shutters for a period of one year, No problems just satisfied consumers. She claimed she was the ex-wife of Mychael Margott of excaliber window fashions. after doing business for one year she gave me a lead of a retailer looking for a new supplier of basswood shutters. the name of the retailer was Wholesale blinds.

I met with Greg Davis who presented himself as the decision-maker of Wholesale Blinds and after 1 week I was providing installed Shutters to this retailer. Everything was going fine for the first three months but Wholesale blinds started to get late on balance due.(in the shutter Industry the retailer must provide a 50% deposit to start production and the balance due within 7 days of installation). Being a small niche fabricator you cannot let your accounts receivable get out of reach.

When the amount owed reached the amount of deposits for new jobs I halted all installations till wholesale blinds brought their account current. Greg Davis at that time instructed me to use the deposits of the new jobs to bring his account current.

You dont have to be a rocket scientist to see that if you borrow from paul to pay peter, paul will eventually get screwed untill your find another paul. It was just about this time that Wholesale Blinds Was sold to a company called Discount Blind and Shades from Arizona. It wasnt long before Discount blinds and Shades started calling us to check status on shutter orders and at that time we informed them about the decision by Greg Davis to use consumer deposits to cover his balance due, and that there were no orders in production. this is why you see all the consumer complaints in regards to lengthy delivery times.

I cannot tell you what happened after that because we stopped doing business with First Rate and Wholesale Blinds

I can tell you this;

All checks received from Wholesale Blinds were signed by Mychael Margott

Greg Davis could not pick his nose unless Mychael Margott said he could

Mychael Margott ,owner of Excaliber Blinds used Wholesale blinds to distribute excaliber product( competing against the same retailers who supported Excaliber )

When Mychael and Cindy Margott started Shoreline Shutters, cindy margott used an alias when selling the shoreline shutter

Its amazing the stories I here about the margotts and the new companies they start to keep the scam going and the live's they have destroyed. It appears that it may be catching up with them. I cannot verify this but I understand that Shoreline was put in cindys name and I believe that shoreline filed bankruptcy, You know all this is public record, you should take the time to investigate. It will blow your mind.
