I was contacted about being "approved" for a credit card, and that the only hitch was, I would have to a) prove I had a bank account by giving them the name and account number, and then later in the conversation, b)pay a "one time fee" of $299.00 taken from my checking account.
At that point I said no. The operator immediately stated that we could just go ahead with the "confirmation" but I would not be charged unless I called in and gave them the go-ahead.
When I was charged, I called (had to make 4 calls, and wait a total of 56 minutes) and demanded immediately to hear the "taped confirmation" and to my surprise, after about 10 seconds in, the operator said, "hold on a minute," and then about 5-10 seconds of silence THEN SOMEONE ELSE'S VOICE AGREED TO THE REST!
These guys are professionals, folks. If you find any way for us to get our money back, please post your ideas!!
