I decided to buy a Louis Vuitton, but knowing how expensive they tend to be, decided to google "louis vuitton sale". The fourth website that appeared seemed to be a legitimate website, offering TONS of handbags at discount prices. I did not think twice, and puchased a handbag from the website (BIG mistake). Shortly after, I began to do some research on online shopping for designer items. Came to find out there is a whole world of counterfit malls online, that advertise authentic merchanize, sometimes very difficult to differenciate from the original, sometimes not. BEWARE!

I e-mailed the company to cancel my order, because I had found out that they sold replicas rather than authentic merchandise. I also told them to cancel the order before it was shipped so that I did not have to dispute the charge through my credit card company. The response I got two days later was: "unbelievable, how did you prove that? and how about the order. its on the way."

There are HUNDREDS of counterfeit shops online, that will advertise all kinds of merchandise. The will steal photos from the legitimate boutiques to post on their websites, and either TAKE your money and not give you ANY merchanize, or give you a very cheap imitation. BEWARE!

For Louis Vuitton bags, you can ONLY buy them either on louis vuitton shops, or online at www.louisvuitton.com. Same goes for Chanel products. For some other designer items, you can find authentic ones at their shops, or department stores like Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, etc. Be VERY careful when shopping online, any "outlet" that advertises designer goods should raise red flags. Designers usually will never have outlets, or send items to any outlets.

When shopping online it's often a good idea to perform a WHOIS search on a domain that you have never done business with. It offers information about the owner and location of a website. Also you can find outhow long the site has existed. In this case, the WHOIS search on louisvuittonoutlet-vip.com shows that it is a Chinese website that was first created on 12/19/10. The two red flags would be that it is unlikely that you would be buying legitimate merchandise from China, and that the website has been in business for less than 10 days.

Anyone can put a site up on the Internet. Blindly handing over credit card information to an unknown entity can lead to more than getting ripped off on the product you ordered.

Be careful out there!
