The check is fraudulent. It is a scam that has been ongoing for some time now. The first question you should ask yourself is "How did I win a lotto I never bought a ticket for?" The typical scam will run in this manner. You will receive a "certified or cashiers" check for the mythical clearance fees/taxes which for some unknown reason cannot be deducted from your winnings. You are asked to deposit the check into your bank account. You are to wait a few days for the check to "clear" then withdraw the funds so give back to the originator either Western Union, certified check, bank wire etc. The originator quickly takes the money and runs. If sent Western Union, it can be received ANYWHERE in the world, regardless of the location you send it to. Around the time the originator has received the money from the transaction your bank receives notice of the fraudulent check, your account is overdrawn and you are held responsible. Go to your bank and tell them you suspect this is a scam before you find yourself very deep in the hole. You can do a search on this site or any search engine on Royal British Lotto and see that this is a well documented scam. BTW, I don't think there is a Winnipeg Utah.

You are not the first person to fall for this scam. The Royal British Lotto is complete fake. The check they sent you fake. Whatever you do not attempt to withdraw the money because you will be the one the bank blames when the check bounces. If they call you hang up. These people are criminals and are dangerous. Call your bank immedately tell and tell them what happened.
