YellowWood Warping, twisting, screwed down popping up - inferior wood. Port St Joe Nationwide
I hired my usual contrator that I've used over the years. He built a nice deck for me using YellowWood decking and railing materials. The lumber seemed very wet to me when installed. As the wood dried it began to pop up and twist. It also would not hold paint. Still to this day, more than two years later it is too wet to accept paint. I called my contractor each time there was a pop-up and he would replace the material. I asked him if it seemed to him that the wood was unusually wet. He thought so too and said he'd never encountered wood that was sold before it's time but such was the case this time. He bought the wood at the usual place, a lumber yard that keeps their lumber in a large indoor warehouse in Port St Joe, FL I've never had a problem with good treated kiln dried before of any other brand. I've heard many other complaints about this YellowWood lumber and will never allow it to be used again to build anything on my property. So much for the cute comercials they used to have. Interresting that I haven't seen one in quite a while. Probably would cause a ruckus.
