Your Covina Family Dentistry, Sara Riazi of Your Covina Family Dentistry, Dental insurance fraud/scam Covina CA California
I was baited by Sara Riazi through Groupon. I purchased two groupons; one for me and one for a family member for Zoom whitening at Your Covina Family Dentistry. I called to book an appointment and Renee who works the front desk asked for my insurance info. She said a cleaning would be necessary and nothing would be out of pocket. When I arrived Renee took down my family member's insurance info as well. She told me I would need x Ray's in addition to the cleaning and the consultation would be free of cost. Sara Riazi, the actual dentist, was an hour late and brought her baby and elderly mother to the workplace. A playpen was behind the front counter. I received my xrays and exam, and then finally the Zoom treatment that was done incorrectly. She gave me four rounds under the light and wanted to go a fifth round which I declined. I went home and along with my nephew had severely burned gums for over a week. We both were in pain from peeling, bleeding gums. The whitening did not work.
Two weeks after this visit I received my claim form from my insurance. Riazi had maxed out my benefits. I was outraged and called my insurance provider to find that Riazi billed them, claiming she did several fillings, caps, and other work resulting in 2,000 dollars! I am in need of dental work and now I cannot return to my dentist until 2019 because Riazi exhausted my years benefits. She did a cleaning that took less than 5 minutes and took xrays. Nothing more besides the Zoom that I paid out of pocket for thru Groupon. She also billed my nephew's insurance for a cleaning and fillings which she never did. She only Zoomed his teeth. His insurance provider took care of it but my provider has not. There are reviews on Yelp and Google from other victims of Riazi's scam. Beware because she and Renee pray on people with PPO insurance. I called them several times to reverse the claims. Renee told me she had begun the process of reversing the fraudulent claims but she has not, and she will not. Riazi is unethical and is scamming people that she lures in through Groupon. This is a total scam and this is so wrong to strip hard working people of our benefits!
