Purchased a 2004 Ford F150 truck from this lot on 8/21. We test drove it and took it to our mechanic to look it over and he said it needed an exhaust manifold, other than that the truck looked great. With th intentions of paying to get that done we decided to purchase the truck(cash on hand). The owner did write there was rust in the frame on the BOS.

A few days later we took the truck to the shop to get the manifold replaced, and low and behold when they lifted the truck up to remove the engine to start the work, the mechanic immediately called us to come look at the frame.

It is completely rusted out! He informed us that they did not want to do the job because of the liability of the frame and it would be a waste  to get it done, because the frame rust is a safety hazard.

We called the used car lot and the owner basically said, he told us it had rust onnthe frame and the only thing he could do is try to take it back to the auction and see what kind of money he could get back. Well that didn't happen.

After calling around to get quotes on the frame, we decided it would cost us over $5000 to get it fixed! (We only paid $3500 for the truck).

So we decided to have it junked, butvsfter talking to the company that made us an offer to junk it ($400) he informed us that there was still a lien on the truck and that we could not junk it without the title. I called the lot back and they told me that they will try and get the title to us before the temp tags expire on 9/21. When i told the gentleman who I talked with that they sd us junk, his response was "sorry, we'll call you when the title is in.

My experience has always been when you test drive a vehicle that you do take it to your mechanic to check it out, but to do a full blown service check to put the vehicle on the lift! My mechanic isn't blind, I thi k he did a basic check. Like i said the BOS did note the rust, i feel that the seller took advantage of the situation I atleast thought he would of returned my call.

You bought a truck that clearly shows rust in the body. The seller marked it as having rust in the frame, which should have been an IMMEDIATE "no sale".  You still took it to an apparently worthless mechanic anyway,  who didn't notice the frame was completely eaten up. Your beef should be with your so called mechanic. He is either blind, incompotent or both. The seller was honest with you. He did nothing wrong
