*After catching an info commercial about operation smile I decided to do what I always do when considering a charity. I did some deeper research than most would. In just a few minutes I came across the ripoff report on this site and the other charity review site that is unfortunate.

It fits the pattern myself and others find constantly with scam artists of various severity levels. It's truly ridiculous how many charities are stealing a too large of a portion, most, or all of the donated money. Operation Smile isn't the worst by far, but here's a simple rundown. Around $7.6 million goes to compensate the top people PER YEAR.

To put that into perspective that's more than 95% of people on earth make. So that puts these "charity"? operators, or profiteers into the richest people in the national/earth percentile. Another around $38 million is controlled assets/profits. Many charities often build this up until they shut down and or run off with it once it's large enough. Operation Smile has a longer track record of not doing this but still, the compensation doesn't pass the ethics/morals and honesty test.

Nearly everyone who donates to charities puts trust in those running them that they won't take such large amounts of the donated money to live what would fit into the more lavish of lifestyles on earth income levels. That's assuming these aren't "cooked books" as most use. They put on a good show, but usually, only a tiny portion goes to the actual charity work to put on the show and pay expenses.

The rest goes to the corrupt running it and makes them richer than most people in the nations where they operate. In this case operation smile also claims to be a national security organization. This shows yet again more corrupt common sense law/rights-violating collusion within the deceiving portion of the hierarchy, their controlled governments, corporations, sub-companies, charities, media, and social controllers.

A few years back I noticed charities showing up at every place I would go to eat, buy groceries and almost everywhere. So myself and others started looking into every charity we came across and sure enough, every single one out of hundreds checked into are stealing all, or most of the money to compensate the owners/controllers, or even worse many were using blatantly obvious fake named company officers to hide who was running them and stealing the money.

Apparently too many nations now use "buyer beware" nonsense as an excuse for the endless scam lies, wrongs and crimes epidemic on earth. Don't believe me about the massive amount of scams, or the epidemic? Check out the list of categories for scams reported on just his web site alone. It's massive!

Beware and so far I've only found 2 charities that don't steal all or most of the money. Again others and I have checked 99% and hundreds of charities to get these results. Save your money and don't give it to crooks who will likely use it for more crimes and bad things. Do charity work yourself in person. Handing your responsibilities as a human being off to third parties doesn't help anyone.

If you want to donate for surgeries to help others, then pay for the surgery after it's done successfully. The same goes for whatever you feel needs to be done to better the earth and humanity. If you don't have enough money, then get people to pool their money with others to reach your goals and help others. Keep it honest and everyone wins!

Always check the facts before you do anything. Look deep into any charity before you donate and beware of all the other group and individual scam artists running around as well. These people will say and do things most cannot comprehend. I know it's very difficult to believe people would use injured children to steal donations, but it's been going on our entire lives and I've seen many use every trick in the books.

Remember the worst types of scam artists are nothing like you. They have no conscience's so don't think they do. They care about NOTHING and NOBODY, but themselves and will profit from ANYTHING they can get away with. Even pimping out their own kids, or too many even worse things to list. They will do the things you think nobody would ever do.

That's how they get away with it. By keeping people in denial of just how inconsiderate and horrible the things they do are. It seems impossible to any decent person, but it's the unfortunate reality. Beware. Also, live by and protect rights for ALL on the spot as peacefully and wisely as possible. This puts the epidemic of criminal insanity in check. The First Ten Amendments in the BILL of rights are signed into superior law for times just like this and a huge step in the right direction. Learn, teach, role model and pass it on, please!

I Don't Have To Prove Anything Moron - And Yes, From Now on - You Name is MORON

MORON, their books are audited by a 3rd party outside auditing firm - this was evident after doing the due diligence you failed to do.  If you understood anything about anything - you don't which is why you are a total and complete MORON - then you wouldn't even bother with any of the questions you ask.

All audits performed for a non-profit by an outside firm, are then peer-reviewed by a 2nd set and even a 3rd set of eyes to make sure there are no questions - BEFORE the 990 is even prepared.  From a due diligence perspective on the auditor's side of the books, they have to do this.  I know because....I've been a part of the peer review process for a number of non-profits.

It would be impossible for non-profits who are audited by an outside firm to cook books, or anything of the sort.  Accordingly, I don't need to look at bank statements or ANY of the nuts and bolts of the accounting since the auditing firm already did that for me.  In fact, there is literally nothing I have to look at from a financial perspective since the auditing firm already peformed that work.

One item of note:  This particular non-profit, based on their 2018 990, also pays Blackbaud as one of their consultants - you would know that had you read the 990.  Blackbaud is not only one of the better non-profit software companies, but a company that strengthens the back end office processes of a non-profit company.

Use of Blackbaud assures donors that their donation is received, and the software generates appropriate acknowledgment letters of donations received, back to the donor for tax purposes.  If they use Blackbaud, I am concerned even less about the integrity of the financials or the office processes.

Once again - to those that read this report, MORON responded with a number of irrelevant comments because MORON hates non-profits as a whole and obviously has no friends.  Please note, I am not associated with this non-profit, and my investigation is simply that of someone who took the time to perform proper due diligence of a non-profit.

I also have a great deal more knowledge of non-profits and how to do due diligence than MORON does, because of my background.  Actually, cinder block has more knowledge than MORON does, but I digress....  Despite what MORON claims, there is nothing wrong with this non-profit, their financials are fairly stated based on the audit, and the 990 indicates it is a well run non-profit with about 12% of its overall costs going to general overhead concerns.

You just confirmed all my points with your terrible childish spoiled brat repeatedly baseless name-calling rebuttal. I'm well aware of how corruption operates being in the business world for over 20+ years now and seeing how 99% of the books are cooked, overhead is exaggerated and wraps in all types of above-average to opulent luxuries, benefits and higher than most ever make as compensation payments to the corrupt involved etc.

Those who call others names over and over in an angry fashion are like spoiled children caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Why resort to out of control angry name-calling if you're correct and I am wrong. You could have outlined every mistake I made clearly and calmly making yourself look more professionally credible, but chose something very opposite.

How about back up your claims with some bank statements for all to see exactly where all the money goes publicly?  We all know everybody is well compensated and despite me going easy on this expose' saying you're charity actually puts more towards the charity than many others, you still choose to make yourself look even less credible with your angry out of control writing outburst and baseless incorrect false assumption name-calling.

You have to be superior and attempt to make me look falsely inferiorly out to be a "moron" by attempting to brainwash the readers saying it over and over and over don't you?  Every time I encounter and confront deceivers they all respond the same, or in very similar ways with anger outbursts, or worse.

If not doing something questionable, wrong, or even illegal, then why are you so upset and freaking out with the name-calling? You would have been better off not even posting a rebuttal.

Your Opinion is Worthless - And Wrong

Look Moron, (yes, you are a MORON) it takes a lot of money to run a charity like this, or many others, not to mention you are a liar.  According to the 2018 990, the top people are paid $2.4 million per year.  On top of it, the fact you list salaries paid go to the top people each year is a idiotic thing to say without any context.

How much does the charity generate in revenue?  Are the top people surgeons or doctors who are paid this amount?  Given that the charity generates $74.3 million in revenue each year (from their 990) and the doctors are the top people paid, then salaries are a part of the program cost.  In other words, without the surgeons and doctors, there is no program.  Only one of the many reasons you are a MORON.

MORON, if you are going to do your due diligence on a charity you idiot, then you need to determine how much of the money spent goes to overhead, or management related costs.  So let's take a look at the 990 and determine this:

According to the Functional Expense Statement on the 990, their overhead represents about 12% of their total expenses.  In other words, for every dollar spent by the foundation, 88% goes to either the program, or to raise additional funds to fund programs.  That's pretty good based on industry standard.

By comparison, if you were to give money to the Red Cross, the donor can be assured that $0.40 of every dollar goes to fund a program.  So for every dollar donated by an individual to Operation Smile based on the organization's 990 return, the individual can be rest assured the funds will be properly utilized for the mission of the charity.  That's pretty much all you need to be looking for.  This other stupidity you list should be, in general, ignored.

MORON, you should be advised to stay off of ROR - you are the worst kind of person to be giving advice.  You have no idea what you're saying, you have no idea what you are looking for, you have no idea how to perform due diligence on anything, and you are a MORON to come here and show the entire world how stupid you are...

For those reading this report, the author has no clue what to look for in determining whether a charity is worthy of your time and finances.  Ignore how much a charity pays its people - simply because charities are harder to operate than for-profit companies.  Individuals working  for the charity often wear many hats in order to keep costs down.

Accordingly, personnel are far more talented than individuals you will find at for-profit companies.  Instead, focus on the organization's Functional Statement of the charity's 990 - that statement will tell you how much of every dollar a charity spends is for overhead - overhead costs are sunk costs that don't go to programs.

Any charity that spends more than 80% of every dollar into both programs and the costs to raise additional $$, are pretty efficient charities.  If the program the charity runs is then appealing to you, then it is worthy of your dollars.
