My synchrony home account ending in 9852 was closed on 3/20/2023 bringing my credit score down. My account was current and I did not have a payment scheduled until next month (April 9, 2023). On March 8th I had a payment scheduled to be taken out of my bank account for 100.00 which is over the monthly minimum payment. Due to a clerical error on my part, my payment was rejected. I immediately contacted the customer service department through chat support on their official website to notify them that the payment would not clear and I also rescheduled the payment to be resubmitted for the same day. I also asked the agent if the account would be closed and if she could help me to prevent any additional fees on the account she reassured me that everything would be fine and she would note all of this information and if and when the return payment fee was posted to contact customer service then and the chat was ended. Today I received a notification that my account has been closed and it is very upsetting. I was lied to and no one within the company seems to care about my credit score being impacted or the misinformation provided by one of their agents. I doubt that anyone even reviewed the notes on my account verifying all of the information above. I have spoken to 2 managers and around 4 customer service reps throughout the day and I have gotten nowhere. I hope this will help them to see the error in their ways. This is unethical and unprofessional

In your contract is a clause that says they have the right to close the account at any time if they feel/believe that the credit risk associated with the account is higher than they initially agreed to when issuing the credit line.

Fast forward to more recently:  You bounced a check for approx $100.00 if I understand you correctly.   Couple of issues with this.  Making a payment that does not clear via check is a pretty popular method for a scammer to enable charges above/beyond the credit limit.  Next, failure to even be able to cover $100.00 demonstrates an account holder who is living paycheck to paycheck and is a VERY high credit risk.

To close, your credit score going up or down is not their concern.
