I became a member of this organization some time ago if an effort to have credit card interests lowered after I lost my job after 9-11. I paid a $300 "donation" for this service and a monthly fee of $6 per account. Recently a credit card I have had the interest raised in 6% when I again became unemployed and requested my payment be reduced to that of the minimum required by the credit card co., and amount I had previously. paid.

The next month I received notification on an unrelated credit card that my int. rate was being increased. I called them to see why in the world that would be as I always paid my monthly payment on time and frequently sent in MULTIPLE payments within a billing cycle. I was told to check my credit report. I discovered that there was a derogatory entry placed in my credit file 12/05 - for SEVEN YEARS (ending 2012) on my trans union report because I was reported as using a credit debt service.

When I contacted ANH about this, I was told they have no control over credit card companies reporting this information and that there is nothing they could do about it. This was not a NEW account being added; this was a modification to the monthly payment being submitted to the credit card company - which was the amount the credit card company had established be paid.

I had been paying $100 OVER that every month for approximately a year. I fail to see how or why I would be penalized for SEVEN YEARS for making the very same payments agreed to my the credit card company to begin with. A New Horizon just wanted to pass the buck.

Fast forward present day. A long since paid off creditor ((now GEMB for Select Comfort)was showing a 60 day last payment at the time I became a member of ANH 4 years ago. I never had any late or missed payments either to ANH or to the credit card company direclty. I have made two attempts to clear this off my credit history with Esperian. They refuse to take it off. I am preparing to buy a house and correcting errors on my credit reports. At this point I contact A New Horizon to step up and intervene on my behalf - even though I submitted PROOF OF PAYMENTS to the creditor.

I was told they are unable to get involved and that the reason could be (and was):

"Did you made payment to the creditor when you first inquiring about the program thru DCS? reason I am asking is because I know most of the time clients are beingadvised by those enrollment agencies not to make payment as most clients were not able to make first payment to them and to still send their

regular payment to the creditors, if that is the case then that is the reason you were reported past due."

Are you getting this? The enrollment agencies, representng A New Horizon, are using unscrupulous practices and fraud by stating it is not necessary to make your monthly payments to your creditors anymore, for the simply reason they are trying to make the sale by making it more affordable in the consumers mind and thus obtaining their fat commission fee for obtaining a new member.

At which point, I went back to them and said, supervisor please. This so-called supervisor replies to me, citing the WRONG credit card and ERRONEOUS payment information, even though he had been forwarded to correct information. He cited that I had missed payments (for some length of time), in addition to a bunch of utter CRAP. Instead of addressing 1) the proper account and the 2) factual payment information, and on top of this, this person thinks he can pacify me with a bunch of meaningless mumbo jumbo. This is how they address credit issues THEY created. This is how they treat long time members. This is how they respond to members experiencing credit difficulties as a result of being associated with their company AND something that was stated would not occur.

The turn over rate at this company is also huge. I can't tell you how many different "licened credit counselors" I have had since my enrollment. The excuse given is that they have been promoted (scary thought) or moved to a different department.

Bottom line, when dealing with other people's money, be accountable, address the RIGHT ACCOUNT and have the RIGHT information. Do not try to pass some memorized speal to a member experiencing damage to their credit! It won't cut it! If that is the business practices they employ, I seriously question why they are allowed to be in business.

I have all of this information in emails. There is a record of it. Please contact me privately and I will be happy to share it with you.

This complaint is also being filed with the FL Attorney General's office.
