I'm very disappointed with the Aamco in Summerville,SC. I originally brought my car there with transmission problems. After having a diagnostic test done at Aamco they told me my transmission needed to be overhauled, which would cost me $2200. The manager Steve sounded legit and so I allowed them to work on my vehicle.

Days went by and I had not heard from them, so I called to see how much longer it would be he said a couple more days, a couple more days went by and I did not receive a call from them, so again I called back and they said they were waiting on parts they ordered. He said that my transmission mounts and engine mounts needed replacement so he ordered them and they would cost me a additional $300 with no labor, so my total now would be $2500.

My car was orginally brought in on 12-31-02 and they finally completed their work on 1-10-02. When picking up the vehicle, they charged me $2784.00 which I explained to them was not what we were quoted, Steve said that is what the total came out to be and that he never quoted a price of $2500. So, I'm very annoyed at this time, and pay the money on credit card, and later that night go over the receipt and find a diffrent persons name on my receipt, but with my work cost on this receipt.

Luckly I had the charge card receipt with Aamco's name on the top of it, or I really would have been screwed. I had my car back for only a day, and my husband, myself, and my kids were coming back from the store and everything seemed to be going well with the car no noises and pretty smooth ride, and then it felt like the whole transmission dropped to the ground.

It was loud and caused the car to seize up at 40mph. We were all ok thanks to our safety belts, but if we would have been traveling on the interstate at 65mph and the transmission seized up like that, we would have been hit from behind and hurt seriously.

I was furious, and I called Aamco's towing service and had them tow my car back to their shop which was closed until Monday the 13th of January. When they were informed on what happen to my vehicle, Steve the manager tryed saying that it probably wasn't even the transmission and tried pointing the fault on other things.

Then he came out and admitted that it was their fault, it was my differential that goes into my transmission. According to one of the mechanics there, the last mechanic who worked on my car forgot to add the oil which caused the transmission to seize up and damage my differential.

So they began working on my vehicle on 1-13-03 and did not complete the job until 2-6-03. Now finally I have my car back, but they broke 2 of my vaccumm hoses and now my car at red lights sounds like it is going to stall out, and jerks back and forth like no gas is getting though.

So, I brought my car back on 2-10-03 to have them look at it again, and Steve had one of his mechanics drive it and he came back said there was nothing wrong with it, I told him you did not feel like the car was jerking and was going to cut off, then he looks at Steve, shruggs his shoulder and Steve cuts in and says, oh, did you tell her about the hoses. He said no and walked away, so Steve brought me out to the garage and showed me where they broke the hoses, and tried blamming it on my hoses being old.

Anyways, he showed me where he put electrical tape around the hoses, and told me I would need to have them replaced. I told him that my car was running fine before I brought it in and he said they only do transmission work. That evening I brought it to a mechanic and he said Aamco should be responsible for fixing those vaccumm hoses since they broke them, and told me that they would of had to remove those hoses when putting my transmission back in.

The parts to fix are about $100. I called back to speak to the owner of Aamco which is Lee Jamison, and could not reach him. Spoke to Benny Henderson in customer service and he tried contacting them could not locate the owner. A supervisor from customer service called and said she would notify Mr Jamison and she finally did and said he would contact me, and I still have not heard back from him. Let a lesson be learned DO NOT GO TO AAMCO!!!!!

I'm not going to stop calling them until they get me the parts to fix my vehicle.

Hello. I really really hope you get your problem resolved. I had my former vehicle done at the very same AAMCO and they screwed me over too. They rebuilt my transmission and it constantly leaked, they claimed to have stopped it, it would start again, same old same old. I finally took my car to another AAMCO in the area, but found out it was owned by Lee Jamison as well. They went to fix my leak, but instead, wound up punching a hole in my AC with a screw driver or something. The AC worked before I took it there, in fact I used it ON THE WAY to that shop, but wasn't working when I got it back. They refused to do anything about it. The only thing that got Lee's attention was my filing against them in small claims court for breach of warranty since they refused to fix my car properly. He finally had AAMCO HQ settle with me but my AC never got fixed.
