I have received numberous calls from these people. They give a different name each time, if they decide to speak. Most of the time they hang up without saying a word. Over the past few months they have said they will be sending law enforcement to my work place (I owe a debt, I have not comminted a crime). I am currently in the process of filing for bankruptcy; which I have told these people and told them to contact my attorney.
Tolds conversation has taken the cake. The guy called, addressed himself as Russell Williams with ACS. I advised him to contact my atty. He said the police were on there way. Again I explained I have not comminted a criminal offense, I owe a debt, told him to call my atty, and hung up. He called back and told me to tell my atty to "Suck his d*k." I said excuse me, he repeated himself and then decided to tell me he was 14 inches long. I hung up before he could go any further.
This is ridiculous!!!!!

Yes there is a collection agency with the aboved name BUT these foreign scam artists are using the same name as well - Just do a ROR search. Therefore after reading the report I thought it was the same scammers - the MO was just too similar.

I don't know why you would just jump on here and say that I'm wrong.
ACS is a "real" debt collector. I lived in Las Vegas and know where one of there offices is. I checked them out back when I was in collections in 2002, as they aquired some of the accounts I walked away from. They are real dirtbags though.
Do a quick web search for them. They are real, and have multiple real offices in the United States.
And, they actually speak English! Call them if you don't believe me.

These people are scammers period - they stole information and are doing the new Nigerian Scam by saying you made a payday loan and did not pay it back.
Forget telling them to call your attorney - tell them YOU know they are scammers and to shove it!

These are genuine punks, but here is how you deal with them.
First, go to FTC.gov and file an online complaint. This complaint will be stored for possible future action against this company.
Second, send them a CEASE COMMUNICATIONS request as per your rights under the FDCPA.
Do this in wriring and send via CERTIFIED MAIL, RETURN RECIEPT REQUESTED. Be sure to put the certified# in the body of your letter and keep a copy for your records. This is very important, as it proves exactly what you sent. DO NOT sign the letter, just print. This is also very important.
Stay off the phone. Never take calls from these idiots and thugs. Always let the calls go to voicemail, so you can have proof of any wrongdoing that you could sue for.
It is a violation of federal law, as well as various state laws for a collector to use profanity, intimidation, or threats of arrest.
As you already know, it is impossible to be arrested for any civil debt.
You may be able to go after this collector if you get a subpoena for the tapes at this location, as most debt collection firms record all collections calls. At very least you can get this idiot fired.
Look up the owners of this company through public records, and contact them directly with your complaint.
