June of 2012, I had finally decided to follow my Mothers wishes and become a voice over Actor. I have a deep baritone, am Quite handsome and have always used my other talents aside from my natural speaking voice to pay bills. At that time I had a part-time job as a Graphic Designer and was barely making anything stable. So any dollars passed through my fingers, was hard earned cold cash. As far back as I could remember, I had always wanted to do Voice overs for Cartoons and animated movies. Ever since I was a child.
So I found an Audition on Craigslist for an HBO casting call. Barely small speaking roles and extra work. I have done Extra work for 2 films back in the 1990s, so I thought this was a breeze. I went to the Casting call and Wowed the Agent with my baritone. The casting Agent from HBO passed my number to Richard Brannan / Richard Brennen of Actors Reps. He gave me a call that Friday gloating about all the Work that he can get me. He suckered me in. Within 2 weeks I set aside $120.00, thinking that I will make it back within no time.
I went to the Actors Rep location in the City and heard his pitch yet again. And he was very convincing. He pulled out what he said was a Contract (which I found out later, that it was bogus), I signed and he scribbled something, took my money and I never heard from him again. I tried to follow up, but he's slippery. He's a horrible Crook who preys on Honest people trying to break into the business of acting.
Don't ever goto Actors Reps with good intentions and never ever make the mistake I made paying for a Casting Agent. And if you really wanna know the most twisted aspect of the thing; It really felt like HBO and Actors Reps were working together because HBO never called back and Richard Brannan or Richard Brennen which I believe to be the same person, also slipped away.
Futhermore, the Website has outdated pictures from the 1980s and 90s and looks very cheesy and basic.
