I work for ADT, and ICON sold thousands of accounts over to ADT, so even if you were with ICON/SAI, you might be with ADT now.

I worked for Icon Security two summers ago and they are not affiliated with ADT. They do use many of the same equipment, but they do there monitoring services through SAI who used to do all of the monitoring services for ADT when they were starting up. Icon Security tries to give our customers the best experience that we can and don't try to to rip anyone off.

In all counties you have to go and get a permit. Its not that expensive. You should have been checking the systems once a month just to see if everything is fine with it.

I used to work for ADT in the billing department. Let me give everyone a tip or two. The salesperson gets a commission for selling you the ADT alarm and service. Therefore making the sale is their top priority. The sales rep quickly goes over the info in the contract BEFORE you sign the agreement. Upon signing, you have 3 days to cancel the agreement before incurring any charges. It states several things in the contract. One.. It is YOUR responsibility to contact the monitoring center and test your system... ADT advises doing this at least monthly. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure your system is working. And the most common error made that causes a persons system to not be monitored, is that they put their cell phone number down for a phone number so when the system gets hooked up, the monitoring station never gets a signal from your cell phone. So make sure you verify all of your information on the contract as being correct. The billing department is stand alone and located in florida. the billing department ONLY covers billing and cancellation requests. Any problems or questions requarding your system need to be addressed with your monitoring center. Or your sales rep. Also please note.. once your sales rep enters your contract information into the database at his office, you begin incurring charges. This is all done automatically. If you have questions or concerns, start with your local sales rep, then the monitoring center, then finally the billing department. If your service is not working, or you deem your system to not be working it is up to you to contact adt and let them know. They will all do everything they can to help resolve your issues, including giving credit on your bill. I know this I did it daily..
