The dealer that messed with me was also an accredited BBB member with an A+ rating and within 2 days of my posting my woes in a BBB complaint, the BBB began arbitrating and not two days after that a check was on its way.
And the company had a black eye post for the world to see possibly forever, because they thought they didn't have to honor something.
I'm not saying the BBB can always do something, but sometimes they can.
It can't hurt this guy to try.
Shout out to Advantage, yo folks, do you really think this guy's deposit is worth the bad publicity? This is 2018 and all the social media posts that this lousy $1000 bucks will end up authoring may haunt you all forever, so do the right thing and just give it up.
I don't know what leaves me more incredulous reading this site, the carelessness and naivity of the screwed customers, or the utterly penny-not-so-wise, pound-utterly-stupid decisions of more or less legit businesses from whom far more should be expected.

If this dealership BOUGHT a PHONEY BBB rating, you can absolutely, positively be GUARANTEED they will do NOTHING! The BBB is NOT a part of ANY government body. The BBB had ZERO power to do anything! The BBB con-game is to SELL their useless, phoney ratings to ANY business which wants to pay for it. If this dealership is a part of the BBB SCAM, they are a CUSTOMER of the BBB by providing them money. As such, the BBB will NEVER go against one of their own customers. Remember, the BBB-BS is NOT part of ANY government body. They have ZERO POWER to do anything. The BBB-BS SCAM is to SELL their PHONEY ratings to ANY business and to con the public into thinking they have some sort of government power when they don't. Contact the Court in your area and find out what you need to do to file a small claims suit against this place!

Sometimes the BBB has pull and this one of them. Post a complaint there. if advantage wants to keep their A plus rating they'll at least respond. Make sure to provide BBB any documentation. this worked for me in a dealer dispute and quickly.

What were the conditions of the deposit? You did sign a deposit agreement, didn't you? What did it say? If you were within the terms of the agreement, you take them to small claims court. Slime ball car dealers love to STEAL deposits. I suggest you research your agreement and if need be, go after them.
