My father died almost 2 years ago, under the care of this man.  You might say that this is not so unusual considering the fact that this doctor is an oncologist and he must have other patients who die also--it is their line of work.

My father saw Dr. Black for about 2 years  and was being treated with Rituxan for non-hodgkins lymphoma.  The doctor told us that although the form my dad had was incurable, it was a slow growing cancer and the Rituxan would help.  Although he had no bedside manner he seemed to care about my father and answered questions that my brother asked him.  This was in the beginning.

My father quickly deteriorated under his care, but the doctor never kept us informed--although my father lost 40 or more pounds during the time he saw Dr. Black and we repeatedly asked him about this he maintained that my father was doing well!  He knew that my father took care of my mother, a paraplegic, and that he was not sleeping, eating or drinking enough.

Finally one day I had to bring him to Henry Mayo Hospital because my parents lived in the Valencia area.  For anyone reading this report, steer clear of this hospital as well; it is truly a horrible facility.  My father was dead two weeks after admission under the care of Dr. Black and some other physicians.  Dr. Black never told us about my dad's condition, always referring us to the other doctors.  This is the kicker though!  When my dad died he would not sign the death certificate nor did he call us to tell us that he had passed away!!!!  Instead, about two days after he died, his office called my mother with a reminder for my dad's next appt.!!

People may think that because Dr. Black is affiliated with UCLA, he must be a good doctor.  Valencia really is a black hole for decent medical care and his affiliation with such an outstanding facility could sway people to believe they will get good care from him.

The way he handled my father's death was truly an abomination.  This man should not be allowed to practice medicine.  Steer clear!
