January 2014 I contracted All My Sons Moving & Storage to move my furniture from my home in Bluffton SC to temporary storage and to a new home in Dover Delaware.

I estimated 15K for my move, believing the only addition to that weight was a Gladiator upright freezer that I had purchased after moving to Bluffton SC.  I asked Mr. Ken Kolbe for a walk through to ensure I had included everything.  He did not perform that task.  I told him that I needed an antique mirror crated.  He did not include that requirement.   I told him that there were cabinets in the garage full of Christmas and summer items, he stated that I did not tell him about the garage, but he would have seen the deficiency had he done a walk thru as requested.   I asked for a Bill of Lading that identified the empty weight and the loaded weight of the truck with my furniture.  They failed to provide that documentation regarding the weight of my move.

We agreed to pack and load my household goods on 21 and 22 October 2013.  These dates were critical because the closing to the house was scheduled for 23 October 2013 and the house was to be available for the new owners on this date.  Mr. Kolbe provided a cost estimate in writing but later, verbally changed that cost estimate to include packing materials (an additional $700 plus), that I could use a credit card and he would waive the 3% surcharge.

At 9:30AM on 21 October 2013 three workers arrived, took an hour lunch and stopped work at 3PM.  They said they quit because my wife had a doctor appointment although they were aware I would be at the house so they could continue working.  All My Sons management telephoned the workers to return to work but they did not return.  The work effort for this day was 3 x 4 man hours.

At 9:30AM on 22 October 2013 four workers arrived, securing from work at 7:00PM. Two of the workers said they were not experienced in packing or loading.  The truck was filled at 7PM.  They spoke to All My Sons person named Jason requesting an additional truck.  These calls went unanswered/ignored.

My property was scheduled for delivery on 10-12 February 2014.  A semi-truck arrived at my Dover Delaware address on 12 February 2014.  Four individuals identified themselves as All My Sons employees, presented a final bill for payment in the amount of $7,113.28 (which was paid), and began unloading the truck into my house. Numerous pieces of furniture were damaged and/or broken.  Additionally, pieces of my furniture were missing, i.e., the dining room table top (legs had been removed), two each dining room chairs and support bars that were required to hold a folding mirror to the bedroom dresser.

During a telephone conversation with Eric DeWeerd I was told that they found more of my furniture at their warehouse.  He stated that he was embarrassed, that he would expedite transport during the week of 24 February 2014.  I contacted Brian Gitzen on the morning of 24 February.  He told me the furniture would be delivered at the end of the week (28 February 2014).  That was cancelled again by Mr. Gitzen, rescheduled for 2 March 2014, cancelled again and rescheduled for 3 March 2014.

All My Sons Moving and Storage of Bluffton SC is in violation of our contract.  They have failed to meet schedules they agreed to.  They have failed to exercise proper care of my belongings, causing damage to my belongings.  In my opinion their charge for this move was excessive.  I believe they should be required to pay restitution as a result of their failure to perform as contracted.
