My move was scheduled for Saturday, June 28th. After calling them 20 times that day and they never showed up and had excuse after excuse I decided to let them come 1st thing Sunday, June 29th. I had to be out by June 30th.
They finally showed up at 9am. 3 men and 1 truck to move a 1 bedroom apartment to a 4 bedroom house 15 minutes away. When I first set the appointment up I spoke with Chase and of course he exuded warmth and was very helpful. He told me the charge would be $119 an hour, minimum 2 hours, a 1 hour trip charge and 10% fuel surcharge. We figured no more than 2 hours to move, 1 hour trip charge and the fuel surcharge would keep the cost about $400.
The men came in and immediately started shrink wrapping my furniture. I had everything boxed up already. I only had to move around 20 boxes, 1 loveseat, 2 chairs, 2 end tables, a bed, chest of drawers, kitchen table and 2 chairs, and a rolling treadmill. I told them the shrink wrap was not necessary, but they insisted they had to do it, company policy.
It took them 1 1/2 hours to load my furniture. When we were ready to go to the new house I told them it was only 15 minutes away. They said they had to get gas. I called Calvin, the dispatcher that I had been talking to regarding the move time, that I was not paying for their time to stop and get gas. They should have done that before they came. He assured me that I would not have to pay for that.
They arrived 30 minutes later at the new place. Then they demanded payment up front and the estimate was 3 1/2 hours for the move, 1 hour for the travel time, $50 for the shrink wrap and tape, and the surcharge. It was $630. RIP OFF. They hold your belongings hostage until you pay.
I want 1 hour back at $119 and the $50 for the shrink wrap and tape I was not informed of.
