When first reviewing lease w/mgmt company, I was told I'm responsible for replacing the dishwasher, clothes washer/dryer or anything that might break. Keep in mind, these appliances are at least 20 years old, which I called the management's attention to. She stated that "older appliances are better."
While moving in, in July,(in Florida) I didn't have AC and called mgmnt company. It took 5 days to replace compressor. AC company did not have an order in for the compressor until I followed up. I also didn't have hot water and was told to push the reset button on the tank. I asked where the tank was and was told it was up in the attic. I'm a 60 yr old woman without the ability to climb a ladder to go up into an attic and try to find a reset button. I was told by management, "All my renters do that." My cable guy was here at the time. He told me to move out immediately.
I was also told the $600 deposit would probably never get back to me that a very small percentage, if any, ever get the money back. Even if I left a pencil, she would deduct $150 from the deposit. If I left my old aunt's antique china or anything else, I would not get anything back that was left in the villa.
I also found after moving in that closet shelves would fall off the wall asa any weight was put on them; the slider door between a bedroom and bath doesn't work; closet doors are off the track, and the carpeting has to be 20 years old as well, yet I'm responsible for all of this.
Management told me I was required to replace toilet flappers and batteries in smoke detectors every month. The smoke detectors are at least 14' up in the cathedral ceiling. I asked how I was to do that. She sarcastically said I should purchase a ladder.
My rent is paid on the 1st of the month. The 1st of Oct when I paid I was asked if I wanted a receipt. Like a fool, I said no, the ck would be the receipt. Guess what, it's now Oct 8th, 2009, and the ck still hasn't been cashed. I'm guessing the old lady that took the ck plays the game of I didn't pay it, so I have to pay an additional fee for a late rent payment. This place sucks. I wouldn't advise anyone to rent from Allstar Asset Management Company in Clearwater.
So why did I decide to stay? Location, location, location: close to my kids, my job, and shopping. Otherwise, I would not have put up with this disrespect.

I apologize to Mary Louise and Stacy for writing my complaint. I believe it was they that responded. I really love my villa and hope to continue living here for a very long time. Nothing's perfect. I'm just new to renting and it was my belieft that management replaced things like batteries, appliances, carpeting, etc. I appreciate the fact the rent is one of the most reasonable for the area and just pray that nothing breaks down. Replacing appliances is not cheap, it would more than make up for reasonable rent. However, again, I'm happy here and apologize to the management company.

I have been a client of Allstar asset for many years on and off and have had no issues with this company at all. Every lease is walked through with every client before it is signed with the option to not sign if you do not agree with it. Every time i have left a unit they have managed I have recieved my deposit back in full unless I truely did not deserve the full refund from my own oversite which has happened once, and I fully agree that I deserved the reduction in what I recieved back.
I am required to chance the A/c filters every month and change my own smoke detecter batteries as well,I have had the water heater trip the circuit breaker and have had to reset it as well, for the price the rent is, you get superior response on true issues. They take care of their properties and their clients with the upmost respect.
They would never keep 150 dollars for someone leaving a pencil. As for the check issue, they go off from the day the check is recieved in the office, not the day it clears the bank. If you deliver the check before the 5th of the month you are not going to be charged a late fee, even if the bank does not clear it till later. The A/C issue was I am sure it was handled as quickly as possible by allstar and the a/c company,I have never had them ignore a air conditioning issue or any other true maintenance issue with any unit i have lived in. I have rented 4 units from them over the years and have had no issues with them at all.
In one unit I lived in the refrigerator stopped working at 1 pm by 3 pm the refrigerator repair man was there and had it working again. They always have taken care of all their client as long as they know what the issue is, can't repair what you don't know about.I severely disagree with this persons complaint of this company and cannot believe these alligations against them
