Did they continue to charge your account every month after the $109.99 charge? If not, most probably the $109.99 charge seems like they put you in a yearly plan. Yearly plans usually give you a year of service at a discount when you pay 1yr in advance, in this case they charged you for 11 months. This is the first thing we need to find out. Not sure why did this happen though, if you didn't opt for it it shouldn't be done automatically, or maybe you did without realizing, who knows...
