Do not sign a contract with ASF International when you join a club or martial art center! In fact do not sign a contract that allows a billing company such as a gym/martial art center EFT your bank account or credit card. These billing "agents" don't care about people and any special conditions or circumstances that arise in your life. A couple people I spoke with when I called ASF International were not very nice; either way the contract goes I believe in customer service and courtesy. Their goal is to keep consistant contracts and renewals we just happen to be the contracted out paying individuals.

Straight from the ASF International website:

"Financial and Business Program Highlights:

Immediate follow-up of past due accounts

Immediate follow-up on problem EFT accounts to

maintain electronic method of payment

Reduce member cancellations

Increase renewal percentages

Increase retention"

In my case AFS International says if you move 25 miles or more away from your school/gym you are allowed to cancel your contract. So when I told them I was moving 200 miles away and faxed them proof of new address they told me my settlement statement from purchasing my new home was fake. And also that I needed to provide a 60 day notice to move. This 60 day notice was stretched out even further since they believed my proof of moving was fake. So my 60 day notice doesn't go into effect until they get the proof they think is "real".

There is fine print so it's important to entirely read the contract you sign; no matter how much your school/gym rep glorifies it there is always a catch somewhere. I have noticed these contracts automatically renew themselves after the first one is done. Be careful of ASF International! If you do choose them you will not be treated very kindly when you decide to cancel, as the reps are programmed to keep you from cancelling and delaying the process out as long as they can.

Also a man in my city signed a contract with AFS International for Kung Fu classes, at the beginning of his contract he broke his hip, they still made him pay off the entire contract even after providing cause and AFS International acknowleding his medical condition and doctor recomendations. In the AFS International contract it "glorifies" one can cancel the contract due to injury or medical conditions that restrict your participation in your school/gym. All they have to do is say it's insuffient proof and you are stuck.

ASF International has shown me very poor business ethics and it's unfortunate for those honest people who have supported this company and who in return have been treated without kindness, regard or fairness. There is no justification for their behavior, just a signed contract and a drop of blood from the devil himself.

Just say NO to contract billing!
