My wife and I had to quit Fitworks Gym due to a move out of town in which there were no Fitworks facilities located (a stipulation in the breach of contract.) I sent an email to ASF International right away to ask them if they could stop drafting my account for future charges since I would be moving...well they took this as that I wanted to stop having the money automatically taken out of my account, even for the remaining balances. I only sent that email to inform them of my move in an effort to not have anymore gym dues being tacked on since we were not going to be living in the area any longer.

Upon moving to my new location I promptly sent a copy of my new lease agreement as well as a letter from the local electric company stating that I had started service at my new location. Now ASF says you have to send a utility bill....how is that possible in a timely manner when utility companies won't send you your first bill for at least a month? Explain that ASF? You would think that a letter from the utility company stating my service had been established would suffice, right? Wrong! Not with ASF! I even had ASF change my mailing address in their records....so after showing a lease agreement, a letter of utility establishment, and a change of mailing address it still does not suffice for ASF that I have moved!

Now because of the email I sent them that I had previously mentioned, the ASF International folks decide to paper bill me. Here's the other whammy...A $5 charge each time they send you a paper bill! Huh? So now I am not only late on a payment because of the change to paper billing, but now they are charging me $5. $5 for what? Especially for something I never asked for!

I just got a letter today stating that the documentation I sent to them does not suffice because #1. My lease agreement was not signed by the landlord. #2. I didn't send a UTILITY BILL.

Let's get some things straight...first off, my lease agreement isn't signed by anyone other that myself and my wife. If you live in a big complex like we do, you usually only have the name of the company on the lease agreement and the resident(s) sign the lease. Second, the utility company letter states that I established service! What more proof can you possibly want? The letter also so wonderfully adds that I can continue being billed until the documents they requested are sent in...So now ASF is possibly going to continue charging me for gym dues even though I haven't been able to use the facilities in a month!

The best part is that when you try to call their main number, you get put on hold for an enternity...the secret to getting through is to actually call one of the other numbers that goes right to the secretary...she then patches you through right away to who you need to talk to. But is it this way for the general public that is calling their main 1-800 number? No! This is a shady scam of a company.
