Avanset is a company that provides subscription based services for exam simulators. Avanset offers several subscription options from 1-month to 12-month. Unfortunately, their advertising for the 1-month subscription is misleading and apparently a bait and switch tactic.
Avanet currently advertises a 1-month subscription for $59.99 and a 3-month subscription for $49.99. Their website does not specify a minimum duration on the 1-month subscription and leaves the impression that one can pay $59.99 and get a 1-month subscription.
I purchased the 1-month subscription and canceled the subscription at the end of 1 month. I was surprised to find that Avanset was demanding a $59 charge to cancel the subscription prior to a 3 month term. A minimum duration of 3 months was not specified on the poduct page, checkout page, terms of use or billing policy page of Avanset web site. Additionaly, my invoice stated a 1-month subscription
Concerned of incurring additional fees from Avanset I canceled my account and paid the $59. I contacted Avanset support requesting the refund of $59 due to the misleading advertising. I provided Avanset with a summary, my invoices, and screen shot's of the misleading advertising with a recomendation on how to prevent similar incidents. Avanset support was not helpful and refused to escalate my case internally. Avanset stated that their 3-month policy is communicated on their support page. A support page is not an appropriate place to put service terms. Avanset was using the support page to claim that the term is documented on their website. I was very suprised by Avanset's response and lack of concern over a misleading advertising/bait and switch claim.
Initialy, I thought that the misleading advertising may have been inadvertent. However, after dealing with Avanset support I firmly believe that Avanset is purposely using the misleading advertising.
I would recomend avoiding the services of Avanset/Certplex as their misleading advertising appears to be condoned by their organiztion.
