Baja Pools started digging our pool on September 6, 2005. The work went on forever.

The first supervisor that they sent us, (Grant), could not understand that our contract called for custom pre-cast concrete coping around our pool. While the skimmer was being put into the pool at the shallow end, my husband told him that they were putting it in too close to the pool. The cleanout basket would end up inside our coping and it was supposed to be outside the pool in the lawn.

He kept saying that we were getting white safety grip coping and we kept telling him that we were not getting safety grip and that our coping was 18" at the base and almost 24" on top. When the coping arrived he finally "got it". At that point Baja fired Grant and sent us Jack Jackson.

When we came home one day we saw two "little skimmers" in our pool, one at the deep end and one at the shallow end. Jack told us that they put in two skimmers for us because they would work better. The box that the skimmers came out of were left on our patio and they were "Doughboy" skimmers made for above ground pools. When we complained, Jack Jackson told us that there are thousands of those kind of skimmers that are put into in-ground pools all of the time. Of course we knew he was lying.

Jack Jackson lied to us evertime we talked to him. Most of the time he wouldn't even answer his phone since he had caller ID and knew it was us. When we did talk to him he would promise to have work done on a certain day and then no one would ever show up and once again he wouldn't answer his phone.

He yelled at me numerous times which made my husband very angry. My husband would call Jack and leave a voice mail for him to call him back and Jack would call me on my cell phone while I was at work. He felt he could get away with browbeating me but he was afraid of calling my husband.

The City of Moreno Valley left a list of corrections the last time they came out to inspect our pool (April 4, 2006). Baja has not corrected any of them so we still have no final. One of the items were samples of the gunite used in the pool. The samples have to be submitted to a lab and results (for psi) givien to the city. It was never done.

We were the first ones to file a complaint with the BBB and at this wrting they have 18 complaints filed with them and an F rating. BBB says they are no longer a member. After I filed the complaint their CFO, Addison Bachman, responded to it on the BBB website and basically called me a liar. Of course with Baja's record on the BBB now, we can see who the liar was.

We also filed with the California State Contractor's License Bureau and there are 9 other complaints filed with them besides ours. Their license has been suspended and they are being investigated for numerous violations.

We have hired another pool builder (Jim DeMeo Custom Pools and Spas, Riverside, CA) to take out the Doughboy skimmers and put in the right one for our pool. How I wish I had hired him in the first place instead of Baja Pools. He is also going to take care of the gunite samples and all of the other items listed on the correction notice and get us a final on our pool. He built pools for two of my husband's co-workers and they were very pleased with his work and they said he was very fast too.

We can't even use the skimmers because they suck too much air so our pool looks a mess. As soon as Labor Day weekend is over, Jim will be out to fix everything. Then maybe we can go on with our lives.

Our pool cost $48,000 and we remortgaged our home to pay for it. That is a lot of money to us. These people should be sued, personally. Good luck to the rest of you. We have not been contacted by anyone regarding not being paid so in that respect we are very fortunate.

This company was greedy and bit off more than it could chew and their house of cards came tumbling down on them and their customers.
