I bought a toshiba laptop at best buy that was on offer.

I had to mail in for rebates etc, one rebate was from toshiba which I recieved no problem, And the other other was from Best buy for a total of $200.

When i paid for the laptop I got two receipts to apply for the rebates etc, I also had to make a copy of the actual bar code

so I cut the bar code from the box and made a copy as requested , I then sent the original bar code off to best buy along with one of the retail slips and the copy of the bar code plus the other retail slip to toshiba.

Eventually I got $50 dollars from Toshiba but then I got just $50 dollars from best buy.

I called the rebate department and asked then where is the other $150 dollars I was supposed to get rebated ?? They said as the laptop was on special offer ?? they said I must send another retail slip along with the original bar code to a different department , I said they already had the bar code and all I got was two retail slips.

I was told i should have read the small print and got three retail slips, I said if they have the original bar code what was the big deal I was told rules are rules.

I just told the lady on the phone I would never deal with best buy again. So if you buy anything from best buy on offer read the very very small print, to me this was a scam., and for a big company like best buy I thought this was a very petty way to not pay out a rebate.

Are you sure you were talking to a Best Buy rep???

Robert, are you sure you were talking to BB rep about your rebate?? i work in the rebate center and if you were told that you need an original upc barcode to resubmit your information, you've been misinformed, you should call back. If a customer calls in and we have no record of their information we can have them resubmit with just a copy of your sales receipt, providing we can locate the rebate offer, which ususally isn't that difficult. I would definately suggest Robert that you call back in with your sales receipt, if it's been less then 5 months since you made your purchase we'll more then likely be able to help you so you don't loose out on the additional $150.
